75% of familicides carried out by young offenders were planned shooting attacks and not spontaneous acts of violence with all victims being specifically targeted. 81% of these offenders confessed to the homicides when questioned. crimetraveller.org/2019/05/family…

Family annihilators: It is important to highlight that in an estimated 95% of the cases, the perpetrator is the head of the household & a male. In almost every case, the familicide is premeditated & the perpetrator views his family members as property, such that he maintains

the right to end their lives. Regardless of motive or history, this typically stems from the belief that they are solely responsible for their family’s needs. Perpetrators need to maintain their masculinity, which is tied to the family unit, as well as control

and power over their family members. When these factors are threatened, they act out against the family violently and fatally When fearing abandonment, offenders adopt a Medea complex (‘if I cannot have them, no-one can’), exemplified through the murders

The majority of these offenders are between 30 & 50 years old & use a firearm as their method of killing. Typically, child victims are the biological offspring of the offender. Additionally, after the murders, about half of the offenders committed suicide. scholarsarchive.library.albany.edu/cgi/viewconten…

There is a series on YouTube that covers family annihilators, they are up to 83 episodes and they usually cover several cases per episode if you would like to know more. youtube.com/playlist?list=…

Around half of Americans (48%) see gun violence as a very big problem in the country today.

Attitudes about gun violence differ widely by race, ethnicity, party and community type.

There is broad partisan agreement on some gun policy proposals, but most are politically divisive.

Gun ownership is closely linked with views on gun policies. This is true even among gun owners and non-owners within the same political party.

Americans in rural areas typically favor more expansive gun access, while Americans in urban places prefer more restrictive policies.

There are differences in gun ownership rates by political party affiliation, gender, geography & other factors. For instance, 44% of Republicans & Republican-leaning independents say they personally own a gun, compared with 20% of Democrats & Democratic leaners.

Gun ownership more common among men, rural & White adults
Four-in-ten U.S. adults report that there is a gun in their household: Three-in-ten say they personally own a gun, while 11% say that they don’t own a gun, but someone else in their household does. pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021…
