#tsukikage #tkkg — college tkkg, first meetings
'Bookstore, bookstore, bookstore...', The young man, Kei, repeats to himself as he passes down the same hallway for the fourth time.
"Nasaan na ba kasi 'yon? It was on that campus map na narito lang sa first floor ng building!"
Exhausted and irritated, the young man decided to sit down at one of the tables underneath the trees rooted on the side of the campus quadrangle. He tried to call his friends to ask where the university bookstore was but Kei hears the same thing over and over again.
"The number you have dialed is either unattended or out of coverage area. Please try again later."
"'Di sana masarap ulam niyo.", he cursed.
"Haa tangina, why is it so strict ba kasi? Uniform lang, tapos kailangan dito pa bilhin? What if mag-drop na lang ako?"
Kei angrily pocketed his phone and stood up to once again set a course for a search for their university's bookstore.
———
Just then, another lad entered the campus and caught the blonde one's attention. Kei despises talking to strangers, however, -
it looks like in this case, he has no other choice but to approach the other man and ask for directions.
With built up courage he ran to catch up with the brunette then lightly tapped his shoulder, "Excuse me, sorry but where's the uni—"
"Ah, I'm listening to 'I Want to Break Free' by Queen.", the blue-eyed brunette, who was slightly shorter than himself, said as he took out one of his earphones, looking up at him.
/Ba-dump/
'What the heck?'
Kei could swear he thought he was having a heart attack when he felt his heart skip a beat.
"Huh? Ahem... I was asking for directions sir but okay I guess, since I like your music taste."
"Ay sorry po! Akala ko chance ko na rin 'to para ma-feature sa isang viral video, sayang! Pero anyway, direction to where?", the shorter man finally removed his earphones and locked his phone, paying full attention to Kei.
"Well you see, kanina pa ako palakad-lakad dito but I can't seem to find the university bookstore so do you mind helping me?"
"Mahal yung tour guide fee ko ha? 1k kada direction.", the brunette teasingly said with a smirk playing on his lips; arms crossed proudly on his chest.
"You know what? Nevermind.", Kei, exasperated, gave up and was about to go on his way to leave. Well, he could just make another appointment for the uniform fitting but damn the effort, the time, the gas money, the—
"Hoy joke lang eh!", the shorter man grabbed Kei's arm, -
preventing him from leaving. "Doon din ako papunta, tara na sabay na tayo, if okay lang?"
"Yeah. Yes, that would be great. Thank you."
Kei expected the walk to be awkward as though walking on eggshells, however, he stood corrected. The brunette filled all the silences, happily bubbling away about anything under the sun.
"First year ka rin, no? Uniform eh. If yes, ako rin! Hahaha! Anong course mo?"
"Oo. Pharmacy, you?"
"Hulaan mo~ kapag nahulaan mo treat kita."
'What would fit this talkative, warm, generous, cute man?', Kei thought to himself.
And no, he does NOT think that this man is cute. No. It was a stray thought. Yes, yes, intrusive thoughts are not real.
"Nursing? Maybe...?"
"Ano ba yan, dapat pala hindi na ako nag-talk. Be kind to my allowance, ha?"
"Hahaha! Hindi naman ako buraot."
"Charan, bookstore!", the brunette excitedly said and pointed to the door as if presenting an award-winning piece.
"Huh? Why the fuck is it here in the second building? Sinong tanga yung gumawa ng campus map?", Kei couldn't help but let out all the frustrations the moment he realized that he was wandering for who knows how long, in the wrong damned building.
"Gagalet yarn? Chill hahaha! It was moved a few months ago raw kaso gagawing guidance counselor office yung dati niyang place."
"Still... they should have updated the map.", Kei unconsciously pouted and sulked.
"Una ka na sa pila. Buti na lang lunch tayo pumunta, we're the first ones here. Kaso 15 minutes naman tayong maghihintay, look.", the brunette pointed at the piece of paper sticked onto the door:
'Lunch time. 11:30 AM -1:00 PM', Great. Just great.
"Yeah, thanks again."
The brunette just smiled and proceeded to sit, ever so casually, next to Kei; minding his own business. Meanwhile, Kei couldn't bear the unfamiliar feeling he has deep in his chest, heart racing a million miles per second.
His guts felt like they were going to burst any given minute. Was it the heat? Was it hunger?
"Psst. Gusto mo?", the man next to him asked while holding out an unopened piece of chocolate cake bar. "I assume you haven't had your lunch either so..."
"Yeah sorry, I'll take your offer. Thank you.", the brunette smiled so bright, it was almost blinding.
Two young men, sitting on the hallway floor with their shoulders touching; both of them quietly munching away on chocolate cake bars, minding their own little businesses. -
The silence was nice, no awkwardness. This was a whole new environment for Kei and yet he doesn't feel as awkward as he thought he would be.
———
Soon enough other students arrived and fell in line with them. Silently though subconsciously, -
they both wished that their time alone with each other's company did not end that quickly.
"Hello students, thank you for waiting patiently. The first two people in line can now enter the room to get their measurements done.", the person who was, they think, -
in-charge of the bookstore said as she gestured towards the door.
Kei stood up first, fixed his hair and dusted his pants. Then he held out a hand towards the brunette to which he looked up to Kei again; although confused, he smiled and took it, accepting Kei's offer to help.
"Thanks!"
'Ah stop. You're /too/ bright.'
The both of them entered the room and sat on the chair in the waiting area since the personnel were still arranging their things. "The first one, please go ahead.", one of them said.
Kei was about to stand up but a hand suddenly found it's way home to his own.
"Wait ano uhm, may socials ka ba? IG, FB, or Twitter ganon hehe."
It was Kei's turn to smile, he didn't know why, but he did. He can't help it. His lips had a mind of its own, forcing its way to curl upwards.
With his free hand, he fished put his phone from his pocket, unlocked it, and opened the said applications.
"I mean if okay lang, ha? Any is fine naman. Pero I'm not forci—"
"Here, follow your accounts na lang. I gotta go there na."
"Ah oh yeah sorry.", a faint blush tinted the brunette's cheeks as he released Kei's hand.
———
"Hey I'm back, did you follow all of your socials?"
"Oo, well except sa private accounts syempre. Ano ka sinuswerte? Hahaha emz!"
"Oh sayang hahaha! Also, they said it's your turn na pala."
"Okay, thank you and bye-bye!"
"No wait!"
The brunette turned around to face Kei waiting for what he was about to say.
"Name... Your name. I haven't—"
"Tobio! But you can call me anything you want. Well, after ng ilang gala together siguro but...", Tobio winked playfully before turning away to approach the personnel.

'I've fallen in love. I've fallen in love for the first time'.
Well Kei couldn't argue that Freddie Mercury was right.
