/7 TIMELESS SIMULATED DOLLY, A THREAD. As I’ve said before I will use “we” to describe production since again, this was a large team effort. #TheOrville #TheOrvilleNewHorizons
/7 We shot during the height of Covid. We had limited access to Dolly for schedule and safety reasons. In order to maximize our time, we (aka @joncassar @SethMacFarlane and team) rehearsed the exact shooting plan with doubles, which including lighting and blocking.
/7 We then created a video storyboard to map out the shot count and angels. For your mental health, I’ll spare you the whole animmatic. In tandem, VFX began the AI process and deep learning tech to make “90’s” Dolly. @Brooki_eh and @fusefx can and will speak to it better than I.
/7 We then sent the sets to Nashville to shoot the first half of the coverage with Dolly. It was a small crew consisting of Jon Cassar, Seth MacFarlane, Rena Owen and Tami Lane from Howard Berger‘s make up team. The rest of the team was Dolly‘s studio crew. 📸 credit @joncassar
/7 Upon return of the dailies, we filled in the first half of animatic. Will spare you the whole thing. Why fill it in? See the next tweet.
/7 Once the sets were brought back to Fox, we completed the second half of the scene to incorporate close-ups of @RenaOwen. We used a double (Yana Netreba) for Dolly. A dancer, she rehearsed (with me) over multiple days, to have seamless continuity on both sides of the line.
/7 More Pictures. #TheOrville #TheOrvilleNewHorizons
