In January 2013, ABC Soaps In Depth did a feature interviewing various #OLTL cast members about their experience and memories on the show. Would you like to me to share?
When asked about her favorite memory, Florencia Lozano recalls one of her first sex scenes with Trevor St. John (Victor). “We we’re both trying to sense each other out. He took off his belt and slammed it across the bench. It was so funny.” #OLTL
When asked about his favorite memory, Josh Kelly recalls how he and #OLTL costar/real life buddy Tom Degnan (Joey) would get pizza for everyone on what they called “Fun Fridays.” “The first time we did it, everyone was so surprised.”
Paul Satterfield says his favorite scenes were towards the end of his run during the courtroom scenes where Spencer was losing his mind. “I would honestly scare Kristen Alderson (Starr)!” #OLTL
When asked about her favorite scene, Erika Slezak says she’s done too many and often doesn’t recall them until she looks back. But she did say a few standouts. “The alters were fun to play. Heaven was lovely.” #OLTL
When asked about his favorite memory, Jerry VerDorn mentions the Clint/Kim story. “Despite our huge difference in ages, somehow it worked - the crazy girl in trouble and the older man.” He also says Erika Slezak was an #OLTL encyclopedia.
John Paul Lavoisier says his favorite storyline was the 1968 Back to the West story with Robert S. Woods (Bo) that lasted 3 months. “If we got to redo or reenact past scenes, Bo and Rex in the gay bar would definitely be in the top 3 things that I’d have to do again.” #OLTL
When asked about her favorite memories, Melissa recalls her earliest days on #OLTL including when Natalie first became a Buchanan and more specifically, the fight scenes she taped with Erin Torpey (Jessica) where she goes over the railing. “It was actually a lot of fun to do.”
Brittany Underwood’s choice for her favorite part of #OLTL was a no-brainer: Langston and Starr’s friendship! “Starr has been there from the beginning and I think their journey has been amazing.” She also says she was happy her one-day stint turned into 5 years.
When asked about her favorite storyline, Ilene Kristen recalls the short-lived marriage of Roxy and Max. “When we got married, that was brilliant. It surprised the audience and it was great.” She also says she loved when she went to Atlanta with Phil Carey for an #OLTL event.
Kristen Alderson says Starr’s teenage pregnancy was her favorite storyline. “I connected with so many fans and teenage girls to tell them to have a plan and stay safe.” She also says how Kassie DePaiva (Blair) was like a “second mother” to her.
Thom Christopher recalls his first day on #OLTL working with Patricia Elliott (Renee) and how they hit it off immediately, claiming that’s how the Carlo/Renee relationship was born. He also says introducing the Hesser family was a “fabulous idea” that came from Paul Rauch.
James DePaiva has a tough time pointing out his favorite storyline but ultimately chooses the Iguazu Falls storyline. “I never got to go to a place like Argentina again. It was just wild and crazy.” He also recalls the great friends he made while on #OLTL
When asked what his favourite storyline was, David Fumero points to Cristian’s brainwashing. “I felt like I was part of a great story and in the middle of something that was important for me to tell because PTSD is a real thing.” #OLTL
Robert S. Woods says the “Faux Bo” storyline was a standout for him. “Just the way they did it. I had a fight with myself. The hero of the whole thing was the stunt guy that did everything I did.” He also mentions working with Sammy Davis Jr. and Little Richard. #OLTL
Hillary B. Smith points to her first 3 years on #OLTL as her favorite, specially the Bo and Nora romance. “We did things where we could go play miniature golf. We went fishing. We had dates. It was those kinds of fun things. That was a really good time.”
When asked about her favorite storyline, Kassie chose the first one she got to play: Max’s gambling! “I thought that was really powerful and fun for Blair because she was so broken and pathetic in it.” She also says playing Blair gave her strength in her own life. #OLTL
Eddie Alderson recalls his first day on #OLTL working with Laurence Lau (Sam) and Hillary B. Smith (Nora). “The first thing I had to do was sleep on the couch and I actually fell asleep. They actually had to wake me up and tell me my scenes were over!”
When asked about his favorite scene, Trevor St. John points to an early scene he filmed with Dan Gauthier (Kevin). “It was so well done. We worked with this great stunt coordinator and the three of us worked out this fight that was the best I’ve ever seen on a soap opera.” #OLTL
Tonja Walker couldn’t choose between Alex’s romances with Carlo & Asa for her favorite story! “I loved the romance with Carlo and all the fun we had playing gypsy bandits. And I loved the romance with Asa. The Porsche races, the wedding, the run for mayor, the whole thing.” #OLTL
Andrea Evans couldn’t choose a favorite memory since she loved every day of being on #OLTL but she did say her favorite scene was whenever Tina got in over her head (“which was quite often!”) and that Erika Slezak (OLTL) “really took me under her wing.”
When asked about his favorite storyline, Joe Lando mentions the summer on Badderly Island. “The plot wasn’t very believable and the hours were long but we had many laughs.” #OLTL
Nathan Fillionspoke very highly of #OLTL matriarchs Erika Slezak (Viki) and Robin Strasser (Dorian); “I could not have been in a better position. They got me a nomination for an Emmy.” He also mentions his friendship with Gina Tognoni through the Joey & Kelly romance a standout.
