How I made money by selling @NotionHQ templates in just 4 weeks!
.
A thread 🧵
#notiontwt #Nocode #Buildinpublic

@NotionHQ A fair Disclaimer - I didn't learn Notion from scratch. I already kind of knew the basic stuff but I am pretty sure any person can learn Notion to the full extent in about 4 weeks.

@NotionHQ Being on the lookout for a side hustle meant watching tons of videos and trying out thousand different things, half of which don’t even work. That was also the case with me.

@NotionHQ Until I watched @AliAbdaal 's this video where he mentioned Notion as a side hustle. Now, I always loved Notion as an all-in-one productivity tool and had used it many times in the past mainly as a student. So, trying out Notion was a no-brainer for me.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal W1 - Market Research
So, I started with a bit of market research and it turned out that The notion is a multi-million dollar company with 4 M active users which means some of these users are actually some companies or start-ups that use Notion to run their businesses.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal These companies are always on the lookout for notion consultants but that was far up the ladder. So, I started from the beginning but
what is the beginning?

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal While researching I also got a chance to read @heyeaslo 's thread on how he started with Notion which nailed the deal for me. So, I planned to learn Notion and started building templates.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo Week 2 - Brushed up my basics.
The notion was not new to me. so, I looked up the @TomFrankly course on YT to brush up on some of the basic concepts and started creating templates.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly I have the tendency of complicating things quickly and not end up doing them so, I made the conscious decision of creating simple and easy-to-use templates.
The first template I created was just one page the Daily view template with no databases.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly Week 3 - Building in public
In the past, all my failed attempts at starting a side hustle had distilled into one common conclusion.
No audience = No success.
So, I created a Twitter profile and started sharing my notion templates for free on Twitter.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly My two main focuses here were
1. Build the muscle for consistency.
To overcome this problem, I set up a simple system to capture, curate, and publish tweets/threads daily. (link attached)
2. Provide value

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly Week 4 - Learning advanced features.
In week 4, I got down the rabbit hole to learn all the advanced features of Notion. My go-to source to learn all the formulas was @RedGregory1 's YT channel. Her teaching skills are exceptionally good.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly @RedGregory1 By week 4, I already knew so much not only about Notion but generally about marketing my products. So, I published my first free template on a Facebook group and somebody paid $3 for my free product, after a few days another person paid $8.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly @RedGregory1 You will have to experience this feeling to know this feeling ;). So, that is how I earned my first $10 from my free products and as they say If you can make $1, you can make $100. So, I am just getting started.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly @RedGregory1 Big Takeaways
1. Learning Notion is a high-income skill.
2. Start small, don't over-complicate things
3. Build your community online
4. Don't focus on money, provide value, and money will follow.
.
And the biggest one,
5. SHOW UP EVERY DAY.

@NotionHQ @AliAbdaal @heyeaslo @TomFrankly @RedGregory1 That's a wrap!
