And why it matters!⚡️

Traditionally there are two layers of cake:

1)The material object:the actual artwork
2)IP rights within the material object:film rights, book rights,etc.

Unless the rights are granted to you. you don’t have rights to license out or monetize the work outside of the first sale 1/

Now NFT’s add an extra layer, which are revolutionary for the space. NFTs ascribe *ownership* of work—it’s not the work itself, nor the rights—much more like an official, indisputable record of ownership + history. 2/

Why is this important? This extra layer can accrue value:

1) The traditional way through licensed IP Rights, or
2) At the token layer, like on a CC0 project.

But there’s a problem. Currently, there is no way or communicable method to assign these tokenized rights. 3/

Communities & projects need a modular tool to be able to associate rights & ownership through their projects.
