to add to the above re: the work done to the eyes - this enables extreme close up shots like the one below, that augment the amazing prosthetics -just incredible work by both physical and digital teams here:

Lawrence went through the ringer for Spock prosthetics, which had to blend perfectly - live, as we filmed on set - w/ real time shader that art team created for shots w/ close ups of eyes. In post, roto / cleaned out any remaining visible makeup lines w/ in-painting.

Many of the prosthetics were one time use that didn’t last more than a day - we needed new ones every day of shoot. Lawrence also had to consider, in shots where he was turning his head sharply over multiple takes, to not stretch lower base of head prosthetic too far, too fast 🖖

raw photo taken 90% into prosthetics application, before physical eyeshadow painted on & before any live digital shaders applied to eyes/inner mouth. We made 2 sets of teeth for both TOS/TMP (a week before TMP began filming, LN had major dental work, changing Spock’s look a lot!)
