"They wrote me off, I ain't write back though."

@GenoSmith3 has had a long journey to get to last night's unbelievable win. When the moment came, he was ready for it. (THREAD ⬇️)

@GenoSmith3 jumped onto the scene at @WVUfootball, instantly becoming a college football legend.

From 2009-2012, he broke 33 school records and was recently inducted into the WVU Hall of Fame.

Smith was selected with the 39th overall pick in the second round by the Jets in the 2013 NFL Draft.

He was named the starting QB in his rookie season, but saw some ups and downs throughout the year.

During the 2015 preseason with the Jets, a locker room altercation left @GenoSmith3 with a fractured jaw, ruling him out for almost half the season.

Smith continued to grind, but couldn't retain his starting status.

From 2017-2018, he bounced around from the Giants and the Chargers, mainly as a backup QB.

In 2019, he signed with the @Seahawks and became Russell Wilson's backup until 2022 when Russ was traded to the Broncos.

With Russell gone, @GenoSmith3 earned the @Seahawks starting QB spot in training camp.

His first opponent as the starter? None other than Russ and the Broncos.

@GenoSmith3 couldn't have started the game better.

In the first half, he went 17/18 for 164 yards and 2 TDs.

@GenoSmith3 was putting it all on the line and the 12s were loving it.

"Geno! Geno!"

The @Seahawks held on for a tight 17-16 win over the Broncos and the crowd was going absolutely crazy for their new starting QB.

The @GenoSmith3 era in Seattle got off to a thrilling start.

Can he keep the @Seahawks rolling next Sunday against a big division rival?
