I watched the Johnny v Amber: The US Trial documentary so you didn’t have to.

Here is a 🧵of every example of Depp’s lawyers - straight up lying through their teeth in some pretty horrific ways. #BelieveHeard #DARVODepp

🪡: “Due Process” has nothing to do with this case. Due process refers to what has to happen before a government strips a citizen of their rights. It has nothing to do with Depp or defamation. The lawyers you hire don’t investigate facts, they try to find ways to help you win.

Camille says that there is a “universal” story between the witnesses. That witnesses with no connection to each other or to Depp (????) somehow knew that Amber was the aggressor & Depp ‘cowered’ from her. But let’s look at these witnesses... #BelieveHeard #DARVODepp

🪡: @deppforddwives did a solid breakdown of what many of Depp's witnesses stood to gain by testifying for him. & I can't find this universal story from the "unconnected" witnesses Camille is talking about... #BelieveHeard #DARVODepp

🪡: Nearly all of Depp's witnesses were employed by Depp as managers or security drivers, sound engineers, etc - they weren't unconnected. They didn't provide the story Camille suggested. How could they? What "unconnected" person would intimately know their relationship?

🪡: What is universal is that several of Depp's witnesses did see injuries on Amber Heard. What is universal is that several of Depp's witnesses had inconsistent stories between the UK and US trial; they contradicted each other & they contradicted Depp

🪡: Ben Chew says that he’s motivated by justice & the truth. Then he claims Depp was the “true” victim of domestic violence, even though Depp’s lawyers claimed Amber never caused him physical/emotional injury to try and evade Amber’s lawyers’ discovery requests. #DARVODepp

They tried to suppress a hell of a lot, for lawyers who are motivated only by truth and justice. As I said before, there wasn't an investigation, there were only lawyers trying to make sure their client won. #DARVODepp #BelieveHeard

🪡: Ben Chew blames Amber Heard’s Op-Ed for Depp getting dropped from Pirates of the Caribbean. But (1) reports circulated about Depp being fired long before the op-ed dropped bc of his own behaviour & (2) Depp was still making franchise movies (Fantastic Beasts). #DARVODepp

Seriously, they need to stop running back to this well. Depp signed a contract with Disney saying he wouldn't use substances while working for them and he very clearly did. #BelieveHeard #DARVODepp

🪡: Camille seems to be confused by the fact substance abuse is a known catalyst for violence. Substance abuse doesn’t cause violence, but it does often contribute to escalation from an already violent person. In 2016, alcohol caused 90,000 domestic violence deaths worldwide.

"Nearly half the female victims of intimate violence report that the offender was drinking or using illegal drugs at the time of the crime."
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

🪡: Ben Chew mentions it would be impossible for Depp to “keep [the abuse] hidden” & he's right. It was an open secret: several of Depp’s staff members witnessed the abuse and talked about it, including the texts from Stephen Deuters about Depp kicking Amber. #DARVODepp

🪡: Ben Chew says that he was worried about the fact Amber came across as credible. So to combat that, they hired Dr Shannon Curry, who “diagnosed” Amber Heard with Histrionic Personality Disorder and Borderline. But let’s break that down... #BelieveHeard #DARVODepp

🪡: Histrionic Personality Disorder is quite literally the modern term for “hysteria,” it is primarily diagnosed in women, and many psychologists think the diagnostic criteria is rooted more in sexism than a personality disorder. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

🪡: Shannon Curry, a personal friend of Camille Vasquez, was essentially told by Depp’s lawyers to find that Amber had Borderline Personality Disorder before she even met Amber. #BelieveHeard #DARVODepp

🪡: Using a BPD diagnosis to explain someone’s aptitude for lying or suggesting it as a reason why someone might be violent is bullshit & adds to the stigma around mental illness. #DARVODepp #BelieveHeard

🪡: BPD alone did not suggest a tendency for violence, instead, those with BPD are more likely to have "comorbidities," such as anxiety, antisocial personality disorder, and substance abuse which MAY raise the risk of violence. #BelieveHeard #DARVODepp

verywellmind.com/borderline-per…

🪡: Lying, like other signs and symptoms of the condition, tends to occur because the person with BPD is unable to regulate their feelings and impulses. It's an act borne out of pain and fear. #DARVODepp #BelieveHeard

🪡: In other words, the type of lying associated with BPD isn’t vindictive or manipulative, it’s defensive and reactive.

verywellmind.com/link-between-b…

🪡: All this to say: Even if the diagnosis of HPD or BPD Amber received was reliable (it wasn't) - neither personality disorder in isolation would contribute to manipulation, violence, etc & it's dangerous and unethical to suggest they do.

🪡: Camille says that if the roles were reversed, and Depp called Amber a “big baby” or said that he hit at, but not punched, her, there wouldn’t even be a trial.

So let’s revisit some of what we heard Depp say to Amber #DARVODepp

🪡: Depp yelling at Amber, telling her not to be "authoritative" with him when she simply tried to set a boundary. He tells her she doesn't exist. #DARVODepp

🪡: Depp admits that he has to stay away in order not to get physical. He says, “a man would want to get out of that area so that he doesn’t get so fucking angry, and actually does pop the fu<king wife.”

🪡: Audio of Amber telling Depp to put his cigarettes out on someone else, to which he responds, “shut up, fat ass.” This went viral on TikTok because people thought it was funny.

🪡: This audio confirmed that Depp headbutted Amber.

Amber recalls a time when she dumped Depp “after you beat the shit out of me,” and he says, “I made a huge mistake. I won’t do it again.” #DARVODepp

Depp sent texts about wanting to rape, drown, burn, and “smack around” Amber before they even got married.

Depp and Amber meet after the divorce filing, and he calls her a “leftover stripper” and says, “that’s all you’ll ever be.”

Depp threatens Amber by saying, “you wanna be cut? Do you? This is gonna go to court” #DARVODepp #BelieveHeard

🪡: Camille says that she wants to use Amber’s own words against her. Camille claims Amber's injuries & descriptions of the assaults are “exaggerated” & don’t match. (Note picture 1 was taken 15 days after the incident & picture 2 shows Depp wearing no chunky rings)

🪡: Amber’s make-up artist testified to seeing and covering injuries - So we know for a fact that Amber used make-up to cover her injuries. Also this idea that she wasn’t hurt badly enough and therefore wasn’t abused is horrific & a tactic used to silence abuse victims.

🪡: Amber’s injury photos are consistent with the events she described.

Don’t forget: whenever she was photographed without make-up and her injuries WERE visible, Depp’s team screams HOAX

🪡: I tend to agree with Rottenborn, who explained that if Amber was trying to stage a hoax (she wasn’t) with fake photos and fake abuse, why would she leave things so understated?

🪡: Someone needs to read the Jury Instructions to Camille Vasquez, or maybe explain to her what "burden of proof" & "clear & convincing evidence" means because "you don't want to give the jury answers - you want them to come to their own conclusions" is not how this works.

🪡: "verdict not to be based on sympathy, bias, guesswork or speculation

You must not base your verdict in any way upon sympathy, bias, guesswork or speculation. your verdict must be based solely upon the evidence and instructions of the court"

🪡: "Definition of clear and convincing evidence:

when a party has the burden of proving an issue by clear and convincing evidence, he or she must produce evidence that creates in your minds a firm belief of conviction that he or she has proven the issue."

🪡: Depp's lawyers claim that there were no other "MeToos," no other accusations against Depp - I suppose they just straight up forgot that Ellen Barkin spoke in court about Depp throwing bottles in her direction. #DARVODepp #BelieveHeard

🪡: In fact, several of Depp's past relationship partners spoke of his violence, intimidation tactics, jealousy and coercive control at various times:

🪡: To a greater point: someone can be abusive and not abuse every partner. We don't decide someone isn't a car thief if they don't steal every car. If Depp abused one partner, one time, he's abusive & If he abused Amber Heard at least 1 time (he did), there was no defamation.
