Attention #Markham, we need to talk about YCDSB trustee candidate Luca Mele, running in Wards 1,2,3 & 6. Luca Mele is a far-right conspiracy theorist who should not be anywhere near a school board seat. 1/

Of course, your first hint is that on his campaign website, he rants about “extreme leftist woke curriculums,” but let’s dig a little deeper. 2/

Luca has run for office before, most recently with the New Blue Party, getting a little over 2% in the 2022 provincial election. New Blue is one of two far-right splinter parties in Ontario; for more information see my previous thread on Glen Armstrong: 3/

Prior to hooking up with the New Blue Party, Luca Mele ran as an independent and expressed his opposition to all political parties.

I don’t blame him for making the switch, he did even worse running as an independent. 4/

Hilariously, he saved a lot of his venom for the PPC, not because the PPC is a far-right racist party associated with fringe lunatics like Jeremy MacKenzie, but because he thinks that Maxime Bernier is a “globalist” 5/

Of course, Luca is a convoy supporter and attended a rally in support of the convoy as it made its way through Vaughan. 6/

Luca also thinks that Trudeau paid Antifa $45 million to disrupt the convoy as it came into Ottawa.

Luca is bad at math. First, when he posted this, there were over 700,000 deaths in the USA alone. Second, a survival rate is a percentage of the people who got COVID, not the people who didn’t get it. 9/

Let's also not ignore the fact that people who minimize COVID because it "only" killed hundreds of thousands (millions now) of people are absolute sociopaths. 10/

Luca also thinks that he doesn’t need to comply with public health requirements because they are acts and not laws. Where does he get this bizarre legal understanding from? Oh wait, here he is with Stand4Thee. That explains it. 11/

Some of the scummiest people during this pandemic has been those who use it as an opportunity to mess with minimum wage workers in order to create video content. Here is Luca sharing some of that content on facebook. 12/

Finally, Luca was involved in promoting a “Save Our Children” rally in 2020. While this sounds like a good thing, the “Save Our Children” stuff from 2020 was a bunch of QAnon nonsense that only hampered real efforts to fight against trafficking and sucked people 14/

If you live in #Markham and you actually care about the children instead of QAnon nonsense, make sure you know your school board candidates and vote. Keep far-right conspiracy theorists like Luca Mele off the school board.
