Just issued - all 1064 pages of it - the first full catalogue of one of the most important collections of Georgian manuscripts outside Georgia itself:
Catalogue of the Georgian Manuscripts, Holy Monastery of Iviron, by Jost Gippert, Bernard Outtier, Sergey Kim, et al, 2022. 1/

A massive volume, with 152 plates in color, the catalogue is published directly by the Holy Monastery of Iviron at Mount Athos. It describes the 95 Georgian manuscripts, mostly dating from the end of the 10th to the middle of the 12th century in the monastery's library today. 2/

The Holy Monastery of Iveron was founded towards the end of the 10th century by St John the Iberian (i.e., Georgian), a little after the founding of the Monastery of the Megiste Lavra and of Vatopedi. St John was a companion of St Athanasius. 3/

Perhaps the greatest treasure of the library is its Georgian Cod. 1, the oldest substantially complete codex of the Georgian text of the Old Testament, written by the monks Michael, Georgios, and Stephanos in 978. 4/

The library of Iveron contains in total more than 2,000 manuscripts and 15 liturgical scrolls, and more than 20,000 books, with important incunabula. This monastery has 16 chapels within its precincts and 10 outside, and the community there today numbers around 30 monks. 5/

The book does not yet seem to be available from any booksellers outside Greece, and is best ordered directly from the eShop on the monastery's own website, which is surprisingly comprehensive and takes PayPal. Shipping was fast and efficient too. 6/
