The Montana Electronic Absentee System (EAS) is an online voting portal which allows for online voter registration, ballot marking and submission. It is used by Uniformed and Overseas Citizens to allow them to vote remotely in elections #mtpol #mtnews

The grant funded Konnech to collaborate with the Montana Secretary of State to develop the Montana Electronic Voting Support Wizard, the beta version of the current Montana EAS. Montana EVSW was quickly cobbled together and used in the 2010 midterm election #mtpol #mtnews
In 2012, the Montana Secretary of State wrote a grant to the Federal Voting Assistance Program to finalize the EVSW into the Montana EAS and secure funding into the future. The grant application lists Konnech and Eugene Yu as primary contractors. #mtnews fvap.gov/uploads/FVAP/G…
The production ready version of Konnech’s ABVote software developed in collaboration with MT SoS and Eugene Yu, the Montana EAS, was deployed sometime around 2013-2014, per snapshots from the Internet Archive
In 2016, an election software company called Votem acquired access to Konnech’s ABVote software. Votem administers ABVote for N. America (and Montana) while Konnech handles international clients. Eugene Yu is on the Board of Advisors for Votem. #mtpol

Last week, on October 4th, Eugene Yu was arrested by LA County District Attorney George Gascon in connection with Konnech software PollChief storing private identification information of elections poll workers on servers in the People’s Republic of China. #mtpol
Konnech’s software for Montana’s EAS collects from military service members and overseas citizens their personal identification information as well including name, date of birth, and geographic location (county/precinct). The implications for national security are grave. #mtpol
Konnech has a Chinese affiliate also tied to Eugene Yu, called Jinhua Hongzheng Technology Co., Ltd. They make voting software for the CCP. Jinhua Hongzheng lists the State of Montana as a client. #mtpol
At least two other jurisdictions including Detroit, Michigan and Fairfax County, Virginia, have halted use of Konnech software. It is past time that @SOSJacobsen, @MTSecofState and @MTAGKnudsen halt use of Montana EAS pending investigation of Eugene Yu and Konnech. #mtpol #mtnews
