I want to give some insights and thoughts into the fight against the Shahed-136 kamikaze drone.
Let's consider several options for combating it:
The easiest way, it would seem, is radio-electronic interference, but there is a problem:
🧵🧵🧵
For effective jamming of a CRPA-type receiver, several different types of interference are required parties. That is several radio interference stations that target the aircraft from different directions parties. All electronics in Shahed-136 are housed in metal housings.
Radio controlling is not used on the route. Therefore, in theory, countermeasures by electronic means have
low efficiency.
It makes absolutely no sense to use radio jamming against the Shaheds on route to the target.
In the event of suppression of radio interference, the aircraft automatically switches to the inertial system (motion in a straight line) until it leaves the radio interference radius. After which restores the exact
positioning and route.
Strong radio interference of satellite signals can only be effective directly near the likely target (radius up to 2 km).
In addition to air defense means (air defense systems, MANPADS), it is advisable to create a network of highly mobile ones anti-aircraft calculations.
The use of heavy large-caliber machine guns is not a priority - to defeat the Shaheds at the average height of their flights (up to 800 meters) the advantages of large calibers (over 7.62) are not obvious.
At the same time, the capacity of the stores and the opportunity are of the greatest importance installation of night sights and collimators, and mobility
For this role, it is optimal to use various modifications installed on an anti-aircraft machine in the body of a pickup truck
I think the use of sniper rifles is not advisable.
Important point! Calculations should be fixed not only on potential goals but also on Shahed's most likely routes.
At the same time, according to each calculation
a straight section of the path is fixed (field or asphalt road)
So that in case of timely detection of the UAV and determination of its movement vector the specific calculation was forewarned of the likely point of intersection in his area of responsibility by Shahed-136 and had the opportunity to move early and take the necessary position.
The most effective for hitting is the use of tracer cartridges. But it is important to note that even after damage in the sky (gas tank, means controls, electronics) the plane remains dangerous when falling, so for increasing the probability of detonation in the sky.
It is advisable to use armor-piercing incendiary cartridges.
If it is possible to choose a position for defeat in advance, you should pay attention to the fact that
downed UAVs that have not detonated in the sky pose a high danger to civilian houses.
There is no need to hide or disguise - Shahed is not equipped with the means of optical guidance.
Aiming at the UAV Shahed-136 from the mechanical sights of small arms while firing without the use of tracer, cartridges are extremely difficult.
It requires precision to take into account 3 parameters - the distance to the target, the vertical decrease of the trajectory of the bullet on distance, and target bias.
Nevertheless, in the presence of several shooters and the chances of concerted action increase.
If the downed plane did not detonate when it fell, do not approach for at least a few hours - the use of self-destruct timers is possible.
A sharp decrease in the noise level (engine evolutions) is a sign that the aircraft is about to attack purposes!
