Unforgettable weekend as I will never ever forget my experience at #LittleRock National Cemetery. For the first time ever I was approached by a groundskeeper with a warning: “I see you walking the grounds & reading the tombstones of the Union soldiers.”

He continues “Young Lady, I am leaving now, but the sun is sitting [pointing to the sunset]. DO NOT stay here until the sun sets. See that MN soldier? [pointing to the MN statute] He guards this cemetery at night.”

He goes on “I have worked in this cemetery for 17 years. I have seen many things. He guards this cemetery. I see shoe prints of Union soldiers. You don’t stay here much longer. The sun is sitting. Let me explain, Young Lady.”

“There are Confederates buried here too. Across that wall (not pictured)[but pointing to the wall] is a Confederate cemetery. The Civil War has not ended here [pointing to the ground.] These dead soldiers are still fighting.”

“Don’t stay too long. He is watching you [pointing to MN monument] as you have walked the grounds. Look at his eyes, they move as you move. Come back tomorrow during daylight.”

This is the wall that the groundkeeper was referring 👇👇👇 Notice the MN statute from afar?!?! This was taken the following day after my encounter will the groundkeeper.

Notice that monument on the background? That is a Confederate monument next to its confederate burials. Interestingly, our USCT soldiers are mainly buried very near the Confederates w/few NY and PA soldiers. This photo was taken on 2nd day of my visit.

The next day, I walked next door, to the Confederate Cemetery👇👇 The groundkeeper spoken in a serious tone. We spoke for a bit about the Civil War. He told me where NY, PA, AL soldiers and even a MS soldier were buried. Yes, I adhered to his warning ⚠️
