"and this is a square" wwx teaches, pointing to the shape he drew on the board
"yes, a-mei?" he asks, nodding encouragingly at the toddler who raised her hand
"what's that on your finger, laoshi?"
"oh, this? it's my wedding ring" he replies +
giggling at the excited gasps his students let out at the mention of his accessory.
another excited, but mildly confused, voice chirps in, "what's a wedding, laoshi?"
"wedding is the day where you promise to the person you love that you will be with them forever" he explains, +
trying to simplify the meaning for the children in a way they'll understand.
he knows that his class is slightly distracted from what he's supposed to teach today but he doesn't want to be the kind of adult who doesn't allow the kids to ask questions
"so, a happy day?"
a-yu asks, and wwx nods at him
"a very happy day" he replies, gently booping his nose with his finger which makes the boy giggle
this makes the whole class scream out of excitement where each student of his is shouting various wishes ranging from 'good job' to 'congrats'
wwx is then swarmed with tiny hands reaching out and hugging any part of his body at their reach which makes him feel so loved
'children and their big hearts' he thinks as he reciprocates their hugs and thanks them
once their enthusiasm has died down, he leads them back to +
their assigned seats and continues his class
"now that my wedding discussion is over, let's go back to our shapes. i want you to focus on the board, my little ducklings" he says and shifts their attention back to where they left behind
"yes, laoshi" the students reply in unison
"that's all for today"
the bell rings indicating that it was time for the students to go home and wwx helps the toddlers pack their bags when the door to their classroom opens
"wei ying" a familiar voice calls and the teacher turns around and greets the newcomer with a smile
"lan zhan! you're early today. the babies will be leaving soon, and then we're free to go" he says and the man nods at him
"i'm not baby" a-yu huffs at wwx
"of course, my bad," he says helping the boy wear his backpack, "a-yu is a big boy now"
the toddler nods, frowning like +
he's trying to imitate an adult, but his chubby cheeks make him look like a cute chipmunk
"your wedding friend?" a-yu asks then, pointing at lwj who's now seated at his teacher's chair
"wedding friend?" wwx asks confused until he understands what his student was referring to
"ah! do you mean husband? yes, that's my husband" he replies and a-yu nods at him like he understands
a few minutes later, wwx grabs his bag as the last student from his class leaves with their parent and stands in front of lwj who is busy reading an article on his phone
"we can leave now. let's go, my wedding friend" wwx says cheerfully and grabs a confused lwj's arm as they walk towards the door
on the ride home, wwx only laughs heartily as a frowning lwj keeps muttering 'wedding friend' under his breath
teacherxian and his lil ducklings probably gotta be my favourite trope
