Hi there islanders 🏝️. Are you an island owner? looking to buy an island or just maybe want to know how to make an efficient Farm Cycle on @castaways_gg? Well, this is the thread for you!

TYSM @0xsub_verse for recording the guide🙏

Since the islands update, we were given a few resources to farm, grow, and expand our island. but we might just need a game guide to farm efficiently. so let's start:

On your first day on a "fresh" island, you will start off with these resources

1. On your first day on your farm:
Get your wooden axe, and then Chop down your palm tree and sugarcane (you will get coconuts, palm wood, and sugarcane seed)
Replant these seeds and wait for them to grow

normally if u harvest within only a short period of time, you'll just get the seed, but not the resource material like wood)
So if you want a larger farm in the future, it's better to wait for the plant to fully grow (24hrs) before you harvest so that you can replant more seeds

Otherwise, if you need the resource materials immediately, then it's fine to harvest early. Note that coconut can grow on both sand and grass, while sugarcane only grows on grass.

2. Now its time to go to your volcano to gather lava:
But since the volcano is quite far away from your original spawn point...
you may want to craft a raft (using palm wood and ropes) first so that you can go climb and gather lava on your volcano.

The crafting recipe graphic by @hamm_day is very useful. Thanks a lot Hamm!

If you don't have the resources for crafting a raft yet, you can actually just spam jump to the volcano to gather lava, but take note that talking drown damage will deplete your hunger/hp fast. so make sure you have enough fish in your inventory to survive.

Another way to reach the volcano without having a raft is to make a bridge” to the volcano, you can do this by gathering ur sand, soil, and stone, and then placing them to make a bridge to the volcano.

But since those blocks on your first day are not enough to reach the volcano, you have to keep breaking them once you crossed and make an extension of the bridge until you reach the volcano.

To gather lava you will need to bring a bucket (crafted using 3 tuna cans)

The next step is to climb the volcano...... which looks easy.....but hmmm yeah would take some practice to get the hang of climbing 🤣🌋

Now that we're at the top of the volcano we can harvest the lava using the bucket. equip the bucket first, then right-click on the lava to harvest it. you will then get a lava-filled bucket.

3. Once you have the lava bucket, you can now go to your coal mine.
Coal mining is pretty straightforward, as you just need to walk up to the mine, right-click on the mine cart, wait for the timer to finish, then the minecart will return with one piece of a coal block.

Break this coal block with a PICKAXE, which will give you 1 piece of coal. Continue this process until you have much coal

4. Now it’s time to create a furnace (from stone blocks and a bucket) in order to produce stone blocks.

I suggest that you put your furnace near the coal mine. You can also use the /setspawn command so that the next time you open the game, your character will be spawned on a location you would set (I suggest the coalmine as set spawn)

For the furnace to work, walk near it and right-click on it, then you have to put the lava bucket + coal into the furnace (you drag n drop them on the furnace tab). this will deplete both lava and coal continuously, in order to make STONE blocks.

The new STONE blocks will appear in the middle of the furnace, which you shall break with a PIckaxe to gather the stone.

NOTE: the furnace will continue eating away your coal even if there’s no lava combined with it, so if you put too much coal in the furnace and has no lava yet, you better drag it back on your inventory.

With enough stone, you can build better tools such as stone axes and pickaxes.

5. You can also build a sledgehammer (from stone) which you can use to break stone blocks to create SAND, which will expand your farm.

6. After a few days of farming, your inventory will soon run out of space. Now it's time to create chests (made from palmwood), which serve as an extra inventory for your items. Just Open the chest and drag your items into the chest's inventory slots.

Take note that if your character dies, he loses EVERYTHING he has in his inventory!! so making chests and storing valuable resources in them is a good idea since they won't be affected even if your character dies.

And there you have it, islanders! Now it's up to you to decide how to expand and build your island. take note that this guide is mostly for a single player trying to grow his island's farm. There are a lot of ways to further expand especially if you trade resources with others.🏝️
