Whether or not you agree with @willmcraney’s choice to sue @NAMB_SBC, you need to see what is finally coming out after 7 yes: NAMB having a “Disciplinal Process” for a state convention, trustees saying they will “go to battle” against others for Ezell. That’s just the start 🧵🪡
If you are unfamiliar with the McRaney case, you should read the amended filing here: secureservercdn.net/45.40.148.206/…. It gives a timeline of events and why he eventually filed a lawsuit. In this case NAMB claims it has absolute privileges over state convention employees.
Let’s dive in to this “disciplinal process” for a baptist partner. First off, SBC entities do not have authority over other partners including local churches and state conventions. So what was the BCMD’s sin that needed discipline? Was it female pastors or heretical statements?
No. It was simply that the BCMD did not want to hand over church planting to NAMB (become a Send State). The “disciplinal process” was withholding $1M+ from the BCMD if the did not fire McRaney. We find out they rescinded the “discipline” within a couple of hours after his firing
Remember 6 state execs from outside of the South criticized NAMBs strong arming tactics. Several of those have retired since the letter was published, but it is worth a read. baptistnews.com/article/state-…
Don’t forget NAMB trustees say they know everything going on, “Trustee board chairman… de Armas, senior associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Orlando, said in a statement. “…Not only do we know what is going on, in most cases we initiated and, in every case, we affirm…”
One of the other biggest revelations that comes out of this we see a trustee pledged to “go to battle” against another southern baptist on behalf of Ezell. Trustees are to hold the entity accountable, not be soldiers in the entity presidents war against another person.

Remember, at this point, McRaney had not filed a lawsuit. Yet, this trustee was ready “to do battle” for Ezell and went to a 3rd party to prevent McRaney from getting a speaking gig. No trustee should do that, & any trustee engaged in that behavior has failed their responsibility
If you remember David Platt’s final address to the IMB trustees, he stated that he “hated the politics of the SBC…backroom deals…strategizing like brothers are your enemy...” what we see in the new information is that trustees were used as a part of Ezell’war against McRaney
So we have NAMB partnering with the abysmal “He Gets Us” campaign, but sending trustees to do their dirty work against other Southern Baptist leaders. Trustees are to hold the entity in line and it is clear NAMBs trustees do not or are incapable of doing so.
When will enough be enough and the trustees remove him? Remember the debacle over female pastors at church plants (and planter training churches)? When asked about it on a podcast Ezell lied and said a person (@TomBuck) only found kids ministers and sloppy language.
In violation of the SBC Business and Financial Plan, Ezell & trustees have refused to share the salary structure even denying people from the floor of the convention. Other entities provided salary structures, yet NAMB has yet to provide them. Some requests are over 700 days old
When it came to He Gets us, Ezell lied and said we were just helping with the phones. Come to find out, we had a whole hub with them and who knows what else.
At what point is enough, enough? There are plenty of good people at NAMB, but Ezell and those who have enabled his foolishness and wickedness must go. We cannot have a NAMB that threatens biblically faithful partners, and sends trustees to go to war against SBC members. #SBC
