Sunday and 2 more nice calm and fairly warm days ahead. So I managed to finally shred those branches and spread the result behind the logs (tried yesterday, but too windy and cold.
Thought I’d end this thread as we turned to wintertime, but I’ll extend it a bit…
#sarassummer22
Pitch dark now but still +13°
About 4m left to cover behind the logs, so more pruning is needed. Spread my allium seeds too
I get house guests staying for a couple of days, borrowing the car Tuesday, I should probably give it a casual wash. It’s extremely dirty

Today 15 Nov was the second day I got help in the garden & hopefully I will get a bit tomorrow to finish things… I did a few things while waiting during warm rainy weeks. My benches are mended for ex
#sarassummer22
I sorted all seeds and saved bulbs in 4 categories: plant outside now in pots or directly in the ground, plant inside in February, plant inside in March/April, plant outside in May/June …
#sarassummer22
The rest has been planning… Last Thursday high branches were cut & most of the leaves blown away. Sat/Sun all of that was shredded, ready for flowerbeds
I also cut in half the 2 largest plastic barrels from the old landings -half in the garage, top for planting
#sarassummer22
The third, smaller, will be for rainwater …
Thursday the frame for the blackberries was put in place, but by then the day was over .. still some leaves left when children were waiting to be picked up from daycare… & a lot left on my list.
#sarassummer22
We decided yesterday for a finish, but then one of the kids was sick with a cold & had to be looked after…
#sarassummer22
But today, wow! All leaves are gone. Some mixed with a bit of manure in a half barrel - waiting for potatoes or carrots come spring. Very tidy indeed #sarassummer22
All 1,5 cubic meters of gravel was spread om top of fabric! 1 white sack less
And remaining stones moved, both cobblestones for the path to the garage and the larger waiting for the wall building. 1 more white sack gone👍🏻
Remains 1/2 a sack of fine gravel
#sarassummer22
I must say I’m super pleased. Hopefully🤞🏻the list will be finished tomorrow as he is scheduled at neighbors. Remains to dig up & move rhubarbs & the remaining rose by the hammock & a couple of bushes that never flourished down there in the shade. Tomorrow…

Friday Nov 18 & time to end this long overdue thread sometime today. Future posts on weather, garden, etc will probably be mastodon. This bird is already shaken
Outside at 8am it was barely +2° & the coming 4 days will be cold with severe frost & perhaps some snow
#sarassummer22
There was hardly any time left over on Wed. At 4 pm the dug up bulbs of Solomon’s seal were hastily put in the ground beside the hammock and the wooden frame removed. Remains to dissemble it (screwed together), and then take the roof of the hammock to the garage.
#sarassummer22
The heap of soil is from the cut edges Tuesday and will help level the space after rhubarbs & the last rose are moved to the right side of the garden - possibly springtime
#sarassummer22
I’ve already moved all paint inside, cleaned the patio from tools and debris, sorted all screws & nails, etc
I think I’ll fetch the last sallad & rosemary + a pot of non hardy lavender inside over the next few nights. After Tuesday warmer weather is forecasted
#sarassummer22
I do have a couple of things outside to tend to & they will require both woolen socks & thick gloves…
* Last shredded branches to spread behind the logs & in flowerbeds, possibly topped with soil.
* Finish the cobblestone edge & rake the path before it freezes
#sarassummer22
Also the last Chilie, my huge birds eye plant, should join its mates in the basement. It needs a final cut and a new pot. All other sensitive plants, like geraniums, fuchsias & begonias are already inside in safety.
With coffee finished it’s time to get going …
#sarassummer22
This is it for today and for this thread… those cobblestones took most of the day & next is winter. I’ve brought the few pots inside & at 4 pm it was +2°, but felt worse. Bulbs and finishing of that edge with sand can wait until next week.
