Just in time for Halloween and DOOMsday, here's a comprehensive guide to MF DOOM's discography
First of, Let's start with KMD, DOOM's group with his brother and Onyx. While I'm the group, DOOM was known as Zev Love X. KMD are known for their jazzy positive feeling style of music. Discography ran from 1990 - 2015 with an appearance in 2017 on The Missing Notebook Rhymes.
Next, we have his solo persona. Re-emerging two years later after the death of his brother and the disbandment of KMD, Zev took up the mantle of the masked rapper, MF DOOM (always in caps) drawing inspiration from Marvel villain Dr. Doom. His Solo discography ran from 1997 - 2021
I'm 2002, Madlib and DOOM, both making headway in the underground scene, came together to form Madvillain and release their album Madvillainy. The project cemented them both as two of the best hip-hop artists ever. Discography ran from 2003 - 2016.
Fun fact, after the demo versions of Madvillainy leaked, the entire project was almost scrapped. Another fun fact, One Beer was originally intended for Madvillainy but Madlib could not work out the beat to fit the project's theme.
Their discography ran from 2003 - 2016.
MF DOOM being a man of multiple personalities decided to release a project based on his Monsta Island Czars (M.I.C) character, King Geedorah. The character is based on the 3 headed Japanese character of the same name. The project that resulted from it was released in 2003.
DOOM further expanded his multiple personalities by leaning more into his comic book inspiration and donning another name similar to his comic book counterpart, Viktor Vaughn (Viktor Von Doom). Under this persona, his discography ran from 2003 - 2007.
In 2005, DOOM embarked on another legendary creative journey, this time with producer Danger Mouse. The collab spawned 1 studio album and 2 EPs. Their discography ran from 2005 - 2007.
I'm 2010, DOOM was deported from the US and subsequently denied entry multiple times. 2012 saw DOOM collabing producer Jneiro Jarel as JJ DOOM to release an album that was both comedic and used as a way to vent his frustrations. Their discography ran from 2012 - 2014.
In 2014, MF DOOM collabed with Bishop Nehru to form the duo NehruvianDOOM. Their discography ran from 2014 - 2019.
As much as he was a rapper, he was also a damn good producer. Using the moniker Metal Fingers, he released 10 instrumental albums and 3 collab tapes, one of which was with former label mate MF Grimm. Under the Metal Fingers persona, his discography ran from 2002 - 2012.
