🧵1/ A nephrologist's retrospective
🤔This is the result!
Among talented, dedicated people I was nominated, I somehow won. I felt humble and shocked... So unreal, trying to understand why my name is there

2/ 🧵Here it starts, in Jan 2022:
Hi, my name is Cristina, and I'm a🇷🇴nephrologist, too shy to stand out in a crowd, lost after finishing my residency. Teaching, the idea of continuing my Phd made me keep my head above the water
Too busy with life, constantly seeking

3/ I got over myself and made courage to pursue the thought I had a few months before -> #NSMC
After waiting impatiently, I got my answer through this mail ✨

4/ 😊I got in! And after that, I constantly felt behind with everything. I've missed being in the right Slack pod group for a few days, took a while not to confuse days because time zone difference. Just imagine I landed in the middle of organizing the next #NehJC

5/ Naive me, since all the tasks were distributed, I offered to host chat 1. And found out I need a script. Didn't know the same script worked on both chats, so my pod had 2 scripts😅
@hswapnil was so nice and encouraging #NephJC

6/ Making the script, I probably drove @jamiekwillows crazy writing Acetaminophen capitalized all over.😀 He is too nice and patiently corrected it with many other things. He constantly pushed me to get out of my thinking pattern and comfort zone #NephJC

7/ And the first #NephJC chat host went so well for the inexperienced me, mainly due to mentors and colleagues. Here is a sample of a great supporting team
@_MoIbrahim @drpriyajohn

Even if it felt scary& overwhelmed, I continued to volunteer. Loved the rush!♥️

8/ Continued with the podcast rotation, being so left-handed, maybe more than before. I was scared of saying stupid things and be recorded.

@bthomas215, @kidney_boy made a great job encouraging me! And my pod colleagues were my safety net.
+ @drpriyajohn

9/ The visual abstract rotation was fun. I could enjoy it because I had a head start making my first VA during #Nephjc guided by @brian_rifkin when I did all the mistakes possible, even twice. 😅

🔥Great mentors, feedback, and teamwork. And there I met @sophia_kidney (TBD)

10/ Now on the blog & tweetorial rotation! Working with the awesome team at our endless capstone project.
I've told you so many things about them but never introduced them in this 🧵
⭐️Here they are! @drpriyajohn @DrMoIbrahim

🚀#nsmcpodchallenge coming soon

11/ After a short recap of my #NSMC journey, I realize I only grew to become worthy of #NephJCkidneys award because of the people I've met.
⭐️Here is my pod #SGLT3, and whichever of them would've deserved to win

12/ I will ponder more on the question why me because it's never me.
Until I find my answer, I'll enjoy the newly rediscovered nephrology enthusiasm, great #SGLT3 camaraderie, and the vibrant community @NSMCInternship introduced to me

Graciously (overwhelmed), yours . . .
