Have an #endhawks afternoon thought.

Cw: Major character death

-

Hawks dying in Endeavor's arms after a nasty fight. In his final moments Keigo manages to give his partner a bloody smile and touch his cheek before he dies.

Endeavor is never the same after that.

He becomes more protective of his kids and ex-wife. Permanently talking to them, making sure that they're safe and to call him if they ever need help.

He's more violent with criminals who's quirks are similar to the one that killed Hawks and when Tsukoyomi debuts, he

assigns several of his own sidekicks to watch the new hero.

Hawks loved his intern like he was his own flesh and blood, and Enji would sooner allow his wayward son in Tartarus to burn him to a crisp than let Tokoyami suffer the same fate as his mentor.

It all comes to a head when he finds the villain responsible for killing Hawks and nearly beats him to death.

Only Shoto's hand on his fist stops him from finishing the job.

"He wouldn't want this." Shoto says softly.

Nothing else needs to be said.

Enji forces himself to his feet, turns to the horrified media covered in blood that is not his own and says he is retiring effective immediately.

That's the last time anyone sees Enji in person, including his children. His family only know he's alive as he continues to pay

for their education and medical bills.

He quietly lives out the rest of his life in a tiny rural home he'd bought the previous year having originally intended for it to be his and Keigo's.

When he does eventually pass, it's quietly in his bed and no one knows until his neighbours come to check on the lonely old man up the road 3 days later.

He's laid to rest in a non-descript grave beside the more extravagant one belonging to the famous Pro-Hero Hawks.

Endeavor was a hero who went down in history as a violent man who snapped and ruined his career.

Enji is remembered by those who knew him as a man who made horrible choices and hurt so many, but who suffered equally in his final years.
