It's because "global warming" SLOWS nighttime cooling, thereby making nights less chilly. That's what's meant by "warming."

It doesn't matter that someone says "warms" when they mean "cools less," or "cools more slowly." We all know what they mean: It makes average temperatures higher. That's what we mean by "warming."
