ALGORITHM - code that tells a computer how to accomplish a specific task.
When you check Twitter, search Google, or use GPS, you’re interacting with an algorithm.
By 2030, algorithms will determine your choices in career, relationships, day-to-day activities, and much more. 💣
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - computer systems that are able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence.
Examples are visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation.
By 2030, AI will be embedded in every aspect of human life. 💣
AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE - one that can run—and drive—without any human intervention at all.
This would mean a vehicle without controls or steering wheels.
By 2030, one in 10 vehicles will be autonomous. 💣
AVATAR - the 3D representation of the user in a virtual world or the metaverse.
For instance, the game character you use to play is your avatar.
By 2030, many people's avatars could be more valuable to them than their real-life identities. 💣
BLOCKCHAIN - an invisible computer that maintains a permanent and tamper-proof record of transactional data.
It decentralizes how data is maintained and controlled and transforms existing power structures.
By 2030, blockchain will be the base layer of 90% of the internet. 💣
CAVE AUTOMATIC VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT - a VR space where walls, floor and ceiling, act as giant projection surfaces to create a highly immersive virtual environment.
The user controls the CAVE with their movements.
By 2030, CAVEs will be transforming learning in every industry. 💣
CHATBOT - a program within apps that interacts directly with users to help with simple tasks.
It seems to chat like a real person, but it's powered by Machine Learning Algorithms.
By 2030, 99.99% of your online retail, education or health interactions will be with chatbots. 💣
COMPUTER VISION - field of artificial intelligence that trains computers to interpret and understand the visual world.
Machines learn to identify and classify objects — and then react to what they “see."
By 2030, computers will see and record 100% of our public activity. 💣
DECENTRALIZED AUTONOMOUS ORGANIZATION [DAO] - a new kind of organization that runs as code on the blockchain.
They're owned and run by members with tokens that give decision-making and/or economic rights in the organization.
By 2030, DAOs will be on the Fortune 500 list. 💣
FACIAL RECOGNITION - a technology capable of matching a human face from a digital image or a video frame against a database of faces.
It is typically used to authenticate users through ID verification services.
By 2030, this could enable a total loss of privacy. 💣
GENE THERAPY - the replacement of a defective gene in an organism.
Recombinant DNA techniques are used to isolate the functioning gene and insert it into cells.
By 2030, hundreds of gene disorders will be successfully treated by gene therapy. 💣
GENETIC ENGINEERING - introduction, elimination or rearrangement of genes to change the genetic makeup of an organism.
Gene editing tools like CRISPR make our biology codable.
By 2030, genetically extending human lifespan will be possible. 💣
HAPTICS - technology that can create an experience of touch by applying forces, vibrations, or motions to the user
It is most frequently delivered through specialized gloves, used in VR games.
By 2030, haptics will make most human computer interfaces sensory. 💣
MOBILITY-AS-A-SERVICE - a service providing transport from a user-centric position.
A monthly subscription gives access to cars, electric scooters, small ride-sharing vehicles, and other kinds of transport as needed.
By 2030, most will use a MaaS platform, not buy a car. 💣
PLATOONING - a driving technique where autonomous vehicles follow each other on the highway.
By closely following each other, vehicles create less aerodynamic drag, lower energy use, and reduce traffic.
By 2030, this will transform transportation and traffic. 💣
SMART CONTRACT- computer code that directly controls the transfer of digital assets between parties.
It not only defines the rules and penalties related to the agreement but can automatically enforce them.
By 2030, smart contracts will be used for most online transactions. 💣
SOCIAL CREDIT SYSTEMS - AI-based programs that track and rate human behavior.
They can be used to determine creditworthiness, school enrollment, eligibility for official positions and much more.
By 2030, many totalitarian regimes will use these. 💣
TOKENIZATION - converting an asset or ownership rights of the asset to a unique unit called tokens.
Tokens can indicate ownership of tangible assets, like art, or intangible assets, such as shares in a company.
By 2030, most businesses in the US will be tokenized. 💣
V2X [VEHICLE TO EVERYTHING] - a network which connects vehicles to the world around them:
Other vehicles, traffic lights, parking lots, sensors monitoring weather, road conditions, pollution levels, and much more.
By 2030, V2X could significantly reduce auto accidents. 💣
VIRTUAL REALITY THERAPY - the use of VR technology for psychological therapy.
Patients navigate through digitally created environments tailored to treat a specific ailment.
By 2030, VR in healthcare is projected to be a $20B market. 💣
WEB3 - the new version of the internet built on blockchain technology.
Web3 transforms the internet by giving ownership and control to users and building in privacy and security.
By 2030, the term web3 will be outdated, it will just be "the internet." 💣
