I've seen a lot of media activity on Twitter lately from Anton Gerashchenko @Gerashchenko7 @Gerashchenko_en, especially within the international community. A lot of respectable people are retweeting his posts, so I decided to add some context.
The main thing to know is that he is a faithful soldier of odious Arsen Avakov. I won't do any revision of Arsen Avakov's wrongdoings; let's all admit that he is a чорт and keep on going. Anton Gerashchenko has never been arrested and prosecuted (as far as I remember).
He was a MP, a deputy minister of MIA and now he is a counselor to the new Minister of internal affairs. So it looks like he is a respectable patriot of his country who did nothing wrong.
The point is that Ukrainian civil society has a long history of beefing with him because of his words and deeds defending only his interests and the interests of his godfathers. Anton Gerashchenko was a part of the post-Revolution of Dignity Parliament and Cabinet of Ministers.
Still, at the same time, he defended the Berkut special police force members who were accused of killing people in February 2014 on Maidan and then fled to Russia.
He promotes Ukraine in the war against Russia and that's great. Still, just a few years before, he was a part of the anti-volunteers and anti-veterans campaign with false accusations and criminal cases against them. To sum up, it seems like Anton is not completely pro-Ukraine.
He is more like pro-Anton you know. Keep that in mind every time you repost something from him. This way, you are helping him to stay afloat and build up his reputation instead of sinking into the political abyss. For more details, here are some cases Anton took part in.
