THE HISTORY OF POLIO [SERIES 1 of 3] [PART 1 of 20]
Polio is important because, more than any other affliction, it convinced a skeptical public that vaccines were not only safe & effective; but necessary to fight killer viruses like poliovirus. Questions from skeptics included:
2/a) Are the men who set themselves up as authorities on polio really qualified to decide issues of life & death?
b) Have the self-styled medical "experts" been infallible enough in their past decisions to be trusted with the precious lives of our children & future generations?
3/c) Have the more effective drugless methods of prevention & treatment of polio been investigated & tested? As you will see, prior to the introduction of polio vaccines, polio had a wide definition that included the crippling diseases, encephalitis, etc.
4/The definition of polio will come into play later on; but for now, let’s focus on what some outspoken doctors of the early 20th century were saying about vaccines & polio. James McIntosh, Professor of Pathology at London University (1926) stated:
5/Scientifically it cannot be disputed that the injection of virus, capable of multiplying in the body, cannot be controlled. Dr. Ritchie Russell/Neurology, Radcliffe Infirmary Oxford (1955): when poliomyelitis is precipitated by inoculation, the natural defences
6/of the nervous system seem to be ineffective, & nearly all such illnesses develop into a paralytic form of the disease. Dr. L. C. Appel writes: the fact that vaccination is either adding a disease to a body already weighted with disease; or
7/giving a disease to a perfectly healthy body; is the medical reason why some of us oppose vaccination & urge its abolition. A perfectly healthy body is proof against natural disease; a diseased or unhealthy body is handicapped by being given another (inoculated) disease.
8/A diseased or unhealthy body can never be rendered healthy by inoculation or vaccination. Dr. Harry R. Baybee: My honest opinion is that vaccination is the cause of more disease & suffering than anything I could name.
9/Dr. F. H. Haines: It is impossible to say what remote after-effects may be caused by the introduction of alien substances into the bloodstream. Many nervous & other disorders of unknown origin follow far too often.
10/Products which alter metabolism change the nature of fundamental secretions; cause profound change in the fluids of the body; cause allergy & anaphylaxis; & are the negation of nature’s own methods. Lancet (Apr 8/1950): Dr. McClosky/Melbourne inquired into 340 cases
11/of poliomyelitis in Victoria & found that 31 had occurred in children who had received a diphtheria or whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine, or both, within three months of onset/30 suffered severe paralysis. Dr. D. H. Geffen/1950 stated: in the first four months
12/in St. Pancras, London, 30-children under five, developed infantile paralysis within four weeks of being immunized against diphtheria, whooping cough (or both). Most paralysis occurred in the injected limb; with seven occurring in other parts of the body.
13/Naturally occurring wild poliovirus was a common gut inhabitant for millennia; giving no more than mild gastrointestinal discomfort. However, when poisons from such things as vaccines, drugs, & pesticides enter the body, the effects can be devastating.
14/Poisons cause degeneration of cells, leading to disease. The condition is usually labeled according to the area most affected. For instance, when there is inflammation of the kidney it is called Bright’s Disease; if it is in the joints, it’s arthritis;
15/in the stomach it’s ulcers; in the lungs, we call it tuberculosis; in the pancreas, it’s diabetes; and when there is inflammation of the brain & spinal cord affecting the nerves & muscles it is called POLIO.
16/The word poliomyelitis was coined from the Greek words "polios" meaning gray, & "myelos" meaning marrow. The word means inflammation of gray matter of the spinal cord or brain; or wherever gray matter is found.
17/Every cell of the body contains a small amount of gray matter; but it is more concentrated in the brain & spinal cord. Inflammation results from poisoning, irritation & obstructions that interfere with normal functioning.
18/This damage, decay & disintegration of cell structure may terminate in paralysis or death without any invasion of viruses or germs. Isolated germs have never been known to attack & cause decay & disease of any part of the body.
19/ However, physicians & vaccine makers prefer to imagine something that can fly around in the air & attack people; because any other kind of organism would not be able to frighten people into making large donations & in being vaccinated in the hope of protecting against it.
20/Without an "air-borne" virus to play with, the whole vaccine racket would collapse. Therefore, people are constantly reminded that polio is "catching" & they must have anti-polio "shots" that are intended to build up "antibodies." [McBean/Honorof, 1957/77]
