CCTV FOLLIES 12.19 CCTV A focus on foreign news
-CCTV news reassures a rattled populace through distractions, misdirection and incomplete truths.
-It's misinformation overdrive
-Covid numbers down
-China not at its best, but it sure looks good on TV.
CCTV can't open the news without a few lavish mentions of the top honcho. Blah, blah, blah. Self-congratulatory asides aside, today has so much "important" foreign news that China Covid coverage gets a short shrift.
Fast forward through the turgid CCP speeches.
This one by éminence grise and wannabe Rasputin, Wang Huning.
Lots of article readouts, few visuals in domestic news.
(but it's good news, don't worry)
-Good economic work.
-Building on the Yanan spirit 80 years later.
Pharmacies are doing their best to be of help. On CCTV, always depicted as well-stocked and uncrowded.
"Don't sweat the small stuff"
Numbers are down, which means CCP must be doing something right. 1995 new cases reported in last day.
But why dwell on Covid, when there's dramatic news from elsewhere? Ukraine is getting clobbered, but CCTV only says nice things about Russia.
And it uses Russia's own footage to show how much they care...
Then there's this guy, and his generals. CCTV gives him the benefit of the doubt in every situation. He's a friend.
And he's unwavering in his quest for peace or whatever...
Still, one is left wondering why they blurred out the documents on the desk.
France wants out of NATO and NATO out of Europe.
These demonstrators convincingly said so.
NATO is guilty of whipping up anti-Russian sentiment.
It's so unfair!
And the US continues to add fuel to the fire because they covet nothing but control, hegemony and profit.
As usual, all the US news fit to air on CCTV is bad news.
Take this typical American convenience store, for example.
Notice anything wrong?
And here, CCTV finds time for "local news" from South Los Angeles. They like it so much they keep the English original.
No time for Covid ripping across China, though.
(CCTV's got an invisibility cloak for that one.)
The US is just one bad news story after another, LA, Chicago, you name it. And it's often shown in amazing detail considering the round up of news from the entire world only gets a few minutes.
Finally, something neutral, if not nice.
It's a sports competition.
China's looking to sell Argentina weapons, so a little Messi-anic coverage is called for.
And that's the news for tonight. Make sure to keep on watching CCTV so you know what's going on.
