59 years since the Bloody Christmas massacres & Greek Cypriot coup of the Republic of Cyprus took place.

On this day, Turkish Cypriots began to be slaughtered and forced from their homes, villages and livelihoods.

Cyprus was divided in 1963, not 1974.

Less than 3 years after its establishment, the Greek Cypriot leadership had already become tired of sharing power with the Turkish Cypriots.

They’re hunger for Enosis had not subsided, and the genocidal Akritas Plan was created to ensure total dominance over the island.

The Bloody Christmas massacres were carried out during this time on purpose.

The Greek Cypriot leadership hoped that because it was Christmas, foreign reporters would not be present to record the mass killings of Turkish Cypriots.

Numerous atrocities were carried out against the Turkish Cypriot people during this time.

Nicos Sampson, who was later installed as President by Greece in 1974, earned his nickname “Butcher of Omorfita” due to his actions during this time.

1963 not only marks the end of the Republic of Cyprus but also the start of Turkish Cypriot isolation which is now entering its 60th year. Cyprus was not divided in 1974, but 11 years prior!

The 11 years of ethnic cleansing only ended when 🇹🇷 intervened in 1974 🤲

Please join us on TONIGHT to pay your respects to all those lost during Bloody Christmas. We will be carrying out a vigil outside the Greek Cypriot embassy in London between 6-8pm 😞🕯️
