A quick Curios 🧵on #Benetton a dying irrelevant fashion house that gave us the hammer and a few nails for it's coffin.
I will update this 🧵 as I go along and please add whatever you find.
Their ads involve some of the most vile ads giving #Balenciaga a run for its money.
This 🧵isn't for faint hearted but it's important:
Let's start with the current ad
The kids are sexualized and sexually objectified on these pics, grown adult socks, the pose, body language. Sex sells or so they say and these kids look like they just came off a #Balenciaga
Ad
Now the image below well it's real blood, this is the clothes from a Bosnian fighting the horrible Yugoslavia war in 1994, this boiled my blood. I mean what is a united colors of Benetton, it's a taste less fashion brand, it's not a Ngo it creates advertisment in order to get sale
If you're not aware of the war please research and avoid Serbian propaganda on the topic the serbs committed horrible war crimes all in order to keep Yugoslavia. This is a war where almost 2 million died and Benetton are using " awareness" to try and milk customers.
Imagine using horrendous wars as advertisment to sell and also sway politics. If you're aware of Fashion brands involved in wars add to this thread, I know #Balenciaga and Ukraine, Nazi and Hugo boss etc.
#Benetton used his last moment to take a pic for an ad.
I'm not making this up imagine how evil they are using a man's last breath to break your heart and then tell you to buy a pair of socks or some tasteless colourful sweater.
Below we have s soldier with a bone, that is a human bone btw and 2nd one is a mafia killing.
I mean we have so much to unpack on this brand and it's so called shock advertising but imagine the ad campaign below. It's serious campaign about inmates on death row.
Did you know #Benetton was responsible for the death of their factory workers in Bangladesh?
I wonder what the story is there now and what happened to that whole community. If you get time research this and lets see what they did for those families.
I'm not making this up they've created an ad where they shaped a black girls hair like devil horns made her not smile while the white kid is smiling and is called Angel. This should disgust anyone working or selling this brand knowing their history and the repetition of evil.
Oh how forgetful we humans are, this brand has made us angry in the past and now it's enough.
Below is protest on the death row ad campaign
The man responsible for the photos and art direction of Benetton as campaign O.Toscani who got fired a few years ago commenting on another accident where 43 people working for Atlantis owned by Benetton died by a collapsed bridge, O.Toscani commented who cares if bridge falls.
The new creative director calls it a democratic and social brand whatever means I guess he's basically saying we will keep staying woke and push vile ads on consumers and get paid and that's exactly what he did. He gave us the latest #FashionGate trend, Andrea Incontri we see you
Here is the 2 original threads about Kering Group owners of Balenciaga and The Lotta Volkova 🧵
Update on Benetton: I mean is this a legit news source ? The article discuss how they have to recall as they're endangering kids.
The common pattern here is this company is beyond careless to say the least, sweatshop collapsed killing thousands?
