The Spying Game

The #LabourFiles reveal the depth of internal warfare and dirty tricks that were used by the party instead of being good politicians who are representing the needs of people.

A smear campaign from within Labour removed Corbyn as leader.

Even the mildest forms of dissent are not allowed under Starmer, an incident in London in 2021 shows how he deals with dissent.

The @InsideCroydon news site was illegally hacked and details of whistleblowers were publicly leaked.

Labour passed a motion banning councillors from talking to the press - so that debate takes place on the pages of InsideCroydon.

Victims of the hack were people who'd come to the Steven Downes in good faith and he felt the hack very hard both.

Croydon's #LabourParty did not inform the police instead asking the party whether it can be used to disciplining its members. The party agrees it can be done - party informer #RuthBannister was keen on personal anonymity.

Then the disciplinary process began.

A former head of enforcement at Britain's data watchdog, Mick Gorril, points out Labour has violated fairness and accountability.

The hacked info even went to Steve Reed, Shadow Justice Minister, who raised no concerns about its illegality.

David White had been in the #LabourParty his entire life, he believed in doing the right thing. Yet on the basis of hacked data unsubstantiated claims are made and he's purged from the party.

Steve Reed, Starmer's Justice Minister, took a particular interest in him

#LabourFiles

Senior party members seemed eager to remove #DavidWhite including the head of legal affairs.
White had highlighted the lack of democracy in the party and they way members were purged.

As a result he too was purged without being allowed to have a hearing.

When Jerry Fitzpatrick, a former lawyer, takes over the disciplinary cases in Croydon he speaks out.

The #LabourFiles reveal his concerns at the illegality of the behaviour at the heart of Labour.

He informs the Labour leadership that the evidence is "stolen goods".

However for the editor of Inside Croydon the story was not over.

He came to realise his emails had been hacked and copies BCC'd to various Labour politicians.

Jerry Fitzpatrick asks the Labour leadership if they need to inform the police of this hack.

#LabourFiles

The #LabourFiles reveal that Fitzpatrick does not receive a reply.

Labour councillor #AndrewPelling who was then purged after Fitzpatrick's email asks:

"If there is a party that condones ... hacking of the press, what are they going to do when they are a nation government?"
