The water tasted funny for the Light of Kshahrewar
He's not afraid to be alone in the hospital at night.
(He is.)
(Terribly.)
Sharing a meal
I don't trust the hospital anymore
((Someone's about to get demoted))
“What’s with this overcompensation?” Alhaitham presses mercilessly as he taps his right foot in impatience. Displeasure is clear on his face as he glares at the paling nurse. “I never requested a blood test. It’s also unnecessary in the first place seeing that it’s unrelated to
his injuries.”
“It’s- it’s a service….”
“Additionally, I have made it clear that we are to be transferred to Sumeru Hospital. Instead of 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, I had hoped that the nurses and doctors here would compensate for your blatant 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 by releasing the papers for
our transfer faster. Clearly, my expectation is beyond your capability to 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬.”
“Si-sir Grand Sage-”
“If you can’t give me a clear answer and reasoning for this action you almost pulled to Kaveh, then you are not given the permission to speak. Be more useful to me by
getting whoever ordered you to come here 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵.”
Kaveh can’t hide the wince as his… lover relentlessly and harshly scolds the poor nurse. In the time where he lives with the younger man, he has never seen Alhaitham to be this angry. While his words sometimes
are too straightforward and bordering on being rude, he has never 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 been rude and harsh.
Also, there’s no ounce of doubt that he’s pulling his weight as the Grand Sage too. A part of him wants to help the nurse, but he's in too much pain and discomfort as another
part of him is also annoyed with the rather careless action.
Kaveh blinks when Alhaitham suddenly turns around and approaches him. The younger man takes the glass of water on the table next to him and takes a sip, before his frowns get even deeper.
“Were you the one who served
the water?” Alhaitham asks as he puts down the glass back.
“Y-yes, it’s me-”
“Where is this water coming from?”
“F-from the dispenser-”
“Do the nurses also take their water from the same dispenser?”
“No, we have our own in the staff lounge-”
“Not only are you overcompensating to
hide the fact that a doctor and nurse have extraordinarily failed in their job 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 upon knowing 𝘸𝘩𝘰 Kaveh is, the nurses and the staff here are also negligent to check the hygiene and the edibility of the things that are given to the patients.” Alhaitham composedly says,
but the absolutely chilly tone is not to be missed. “And this is the VIP treatment. I wonder how bad it is for the lower class patients.”
“Sir please-”
“Go.” Alhaitham waves his hand. “Speaking with you will do nothing but adding an additional ire on my part. I want the transfer
paper to be done within an hour and no more than that. Do you understand?”
“Y-yes!” The nurse squeaks before bolting out of the cool room.
“She’s almost crying, you know.” Kaveh points out with his fork as Alhaitham sits down on the edge of his bed once again.
“Then I will only
get more irritated.” Alhaitham replies as he lifts his spoon from the takeaway box of Tahchin between them and puts some into his mouth. “I’m not expecting everyone to be excellent in their department, but basic competency is the lowest bar especially when one is dealing with a
matter as delicate as someone’s health.”
“You’re just angry because it’s me.” Kaveh comments offhandedly as he opens up the bottle of water and drinks it.
“I am.” Alhaitham agrees without a second thought.
The response surprises Kaveh, as he can’t help but chokes on his water.
“I was just joking!” He exclaims to the gray-haired male, who’s now unamusedly staring at him.
“And I was serious.” Alhaitham flatly says before he takes another spoon of the Tahchin and feeds it to him. “Eat.”
“I’m not a kid.” Kaveh scowls.
“You hardly touch the food.Don’t think
that I didn’t notice, Kaveh.” He says with a raised eyebrow.
Rolling his eyes, Kaveh opens his mouth and takes the offered food.
“Good boy.” Alhaitham teases before his eyes fall to the side and his smirk falls.
“I’m fine, Haitham.” Kaveh says after he swallows the food, knowing
that the other is eyeing his injured upper arm.
“You are not.” Alhaitham shakes his head. “Head injury, stitches on your upper right arm, another stitches on your thigh and a twisted ankle. Maybe we need to recheck your head again if this is your definition of being 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦.”
“At least my wrist and my face are safe.” Kaveh shrugs, trying to lighten the grave expression on the other’s face by lifting both of his hands and wriggling his finger.
Alhaitham only takes a deep sigh. “Next time, just call me right away. You’re lucky that I was bored with the
meeting so I often checked my phone.”
“You’re a Grand Sage.” Kaveh points out. “Don’t say that in front of other people. You can easily cause a diplomatic problem.”
“It’s hardly my fault when it was really boring.” Alhaitham shrugs before adding. “Eat, Kaveh.”
Kaveh shakes his
head. “I’m full.”
“You only ate a few spoonfuls.”
“I’ve told you that I’ll only eat some while you finish the rest, right?” Kaveh raises his eyebrow.
Alhaitham sighs again. “How-”
His sentence is cut short when there’s a knock on the door. “Sir Kaveh?”
Kaveh blinks when he
recognizes who the voice belongs to and pulls on Alhaitham’s cape. “What’s Panah doing here?” He whispers rather dumbfoundedly.
“Helping me with your discharge, transfer and petition.” Alhaitham replies as he sets aside the half-eaten box of Tahchin. “Come in, Panah.” He says
loudly.
“What petition?” Kaveh presses with more incredulity.
“For the malpractice, inadequate handling and now with an addition of an attempt of bribery.” Alhaitham smoothly says with a smirk as the door is opened, revealing a rather disheveled Panah.
