China needs to demonstrate to all the warmongers in the USA that it has the CONVENTIONAL means to bring war & destruction to the U.S. homeland.
For far too long, American elites have been trashing other people's countries with no fear of retaliation on their own.
Proving to the American ruling class that China has the conventional capability to devastate the U.S. homeland as retaliation against U.S. actions in Asia is an important deterrent... especially in light of the CSIS wargame:
Remember, it wasn’t China that regularly sailed thousands of miles across the Pacific to kick sand in America’s face.
Neither did China surround the USA with bases & missile batteries.
China sought peace with America.
But U.S. elites keep wanting to pick a fight with China…
The U.S. has also unilaterally imposed technology bans on China in order to suffocate its hi-tech industry.
(Although China is slowly but surely replacing Western IP with its own)
China could retaliate by mandating all Chinese businesses to accept non-USD as payment for goods.
China could also speed up the de-dollarisation process & halt exports of some non-critical goods to the USA as a retaliatory warning.
When U.S. retailers run out of stock, its supermarket shelves become empty & hyperinflation hits American streets, we'll see who needs who more.
