Hi again with a new thread
An ahjussi (kdj) transmigrates into a body of a young villainess and needs to figure out how to annul her engagement before the graduation ceremony.
———
Hsy sent over a new manuscript over to kdj. It was different from her usual
novels. She said she was trying something new. Kdj opened the file and began to read.
It wasn’t the usual genre that he read, but he was a fan of hsy’s writing so he would read it anyway. Who would’ve thought that he would pull an all nighter to finish the file.
At first it sounded like a generic story where a commoner discovers she has holy powers and enters a school for nobles only to create a harem. But Hsy managed to bring all the characters to life especially the villainess.
He thought Hsy was messing with him by giving her the
same name as him, but she became the character he secretly rooted for. He might’ve projected a bit, but she was a great character. He had reached the graduation scene and the annulment was set to happen, but the following chapters were missing.
He needed the rest of it.
Me: where is the rest of the novel?
He was left on read. Kdj furrowed his brow as he stared at his phone screen in hopes a new file would be sent, but fatigue slowly overtook him and fell asleep.
———
“—okja—“
Faint voices could be heard. They were calling his name. His body
felt hot and heavy like he had a fever. He blinked open his eyes to see strangers gathered around him.
‘Who are these people?’
His head hurt so much that he passed out again. When he awoke again, he was alone. Kdj got up and looked around.
This was not his room and he was
not wearing this before. He quickly got up and ran to a mirror. He touched his face.
Kdj still looked the same, but his hair was longer and there was a small swell at his chest. He lifted up the skirt of the dress.
…
He had always had thoughts of ‘I would look better as a
woman’ but now that he looked closer, he really did look good. Kdj got distracted. He needed to figure out what was happening.
*creak*
“Young miss! Y-you’re awake!”
The young maid ran to kdj in utter joy. A group of people followed and they all cried.
Kdj tilted her head.
“Who are you?”
———
“Did you hear lady Kim has amnesia?”
“I heard! Her sickness caused it.”
“Cured but at what cost.”
Kdj listened to the idle gossip and nodded her head. She had to play the amnesia card, how else would she have obtained information. Turns out, kdj had
transmigrated into the body of the villainess in hsy’s novel. A strange twist of fate, but kdj quickly accepted that he was now lady Kim and she was going to survive.
If she played her cards right than she would disappear from high society and live in the countryside
to a cottage in peace and quiet. She also had to avoid the death flag which was the crown prince. If she got in the way of her fiancé’s love then that would mean death (usually). The male lead’s love is heavy after all.
She had created a plan in her head and she was going to
live a peaceful life while allowing the fl lived happily with her harem.
Kdj sipped her tea and chuckled. She was now rich in this life, anything is possible. Sys smiled warmly at her miss.
‘The lady is so happy these days.’
.
.
.
The events of the novel has started.
Lsh appeared and gave her speech in front of the students. A transfer student that is a commoner giving a speech at a school assembly. Many nobles were displeased. Kdj listened. It wasn’t everyday you were able to see one of your favorite characters in real life.
Lsh was truly
a scholarly beauty. No wonder everyone fell for her. Kdj continued to listen diligently, but felt someone staring at her. She rubbed her neck and turned around.
Sitting in the box above her was her fiancé, yjh. She quickly turned around. He was definitely the male lead.
He looked like he was lovingly handcrafted by god himself. He gave off the aura of a cold man but kdj knew better. In the novel, he was a secretly caring man who showed it through his actions.
Yjh was a tsundere with a possessive side. Even kdj swooned when he read the novel.
The assembly ended and everyone hurried out to get some fresh air. Kdj made her way out until someone grabbed her wrist.
“Dokja.”
She turned to the owner of the deep voice. Yjh had a look of concern.
“Greetings to your highness.”
“So it’s true. You’ve forgotten everything.”
Kdj nodded, “You must’ve seen the letter about the annulment then.”
“Yes, but I’ve rejected it.”
“Why?”
Yjh frowned. He led her to a more secluded area for privacy. He sat her down under the shady tree.
“I still need you.”
It sounded like a heartfelt plea.
But kdj knew that he was only like this because he needed she for political reasons.
“Don’t worry, my family will still pledge allegiance to you even if our engagement is no longer.”
“Even without your memories, you are still the same fool.”
A bitter smile formed on his lips as he tucked the stray strand behind her ear. Kdj felt a pain in her heart.
“I will not turn back on my decision.” Yjh kissed her hand as if he was making a vow. Kdj knew he wouldn’t keep it.
Like everyone else, he will get sick and tired of
her and leave. Just like in the original novel.
“Fine, do what you want.”
Kdj got up and left. She felt his gaze on her back as she left the garden.
———
Kdj’s plan to avoid yjh went down the drain. They had all of their classes together.
If she couldn’t escape from him then she decided she should just befriend him. Truthfully she just needed a study buddy. Kdj hadn’t been in school for nearly a decade.
Kdj stared at the magic equation and then to yjh. She wanted to choke Hsy for creating such
a complex system.
“Are you finished?”
“I’m working on it. Just checking my answer…But if you need to go, go. Don’t want to make you late for your date.”
“I do have plans.”
Yjh changed seats and sat beside kdj. He read over her work and pointed out what she did wrong.
“You only need to fix that part, the rest is correct.”
“Oh…”
She felt strange. They were suddenly so close together, she could practically feel his lips against her ear. She could hear their heartbeats. Was she imagining things? Why was yjh’s heart racing as well. She turned
to see the tips of his ears red as a tomato. If they were any closer then they would——
Kdj pushed him off. What was she thinking?!
“Since we finished, shouldn’t you go?”
“Y-yeah. Let’s go.”
“Where?” Kdj gave him a look of confusion. She wasn’t about to interrupt his date
and set off a flag.
“Let’s eat dinner together.”
Before kdj could say anything else, yjh packed her things and dragged her to the dining hall.
“I thought you had plans?”
“I did. I plan to eat dinner with you.”
The lady spluttered as her face turned red.
(Agh tweet limit 🥲)
———
Kdj opened the pocket watch to check the time. 30 minutes had passed. She wondered if yjh was in trouble. They had planned to head to the library to study, but he was still stuck in the staff room.
Maybe he met lsh and something happened. Her curiosity grew and she decided
to take a peek.
Kdj crouched down and looked into the window. She let out a little gasp. It was yjh’s uncle, archduke SP. Between yjh and SP was lsh. Where they fighting over lsh? She watched with bated breath.
‘Who will Seolhwa choose? Or will it be both?’
The talking stopped
and the door opened. Yjh looked at the crouching girl.
“Kim Dokja. What are you doing?”
“Oh me? Fixing my stockings. Ha ha…”
“Lady Kim, you were here?” SP smiled as he came out from behind yjh. Lsh also came and greeted kdj.
“Archduke Yoo and Lady Lee, nice to meet you too.”
“Sorry for keeping you here Dokja. I was just handing some papers to his highness.”
Lsh quickly helped kdj up with a gentle smile. Kdj awkwardly laughed.
“It’s alright. I wasn’t in any rush anyways.”
She could feel yjh and SP’s gaze on her. Were they upset she was
getting close to lsh? They were just friends! Kdj would never dare hurt lsh and trigger a death flag. She separated herself from lsh and decided it was time to bid them farewell before anything troublesome started.
“Well, looks like joonghyuk is busy so
I’ll just take my leave first then.”
“I’m not busy.”
Yjh frowned and took kdj’s bag and her hand. He glared daggers at SP before announcing that they needed to go somewhere.
Kdj quickly followed as she scolded her fiancé for being rude. Lsh chuckled and glanced at SP.
“He looks happy around Lady Kim, doesn’t he.”
“I can’t tell.”
.
.
“Why are you in such a hurry? I could’ve just left if I was interrupting something.”
“You weren’t interrupting anything…and Seolhwa was just handing me some committee forms for the graduation ball.”
Kdj just nodded, “Of course You two are both busy with the ball that you don’t even have time to spare with each other. But even a sliver of time together is precious!”
“Yes, that’s why I want to spend more time with you.”
“I’m glad that you treat me so well for a friend but
won’t other’s get the wrong idea?”
Yjh wondered how creative kdj’s imagination was. He wished he could read her mind to see what she was cooking up in her head. Even after making it clear that he would only marry her, she seemed to think otherwise.
The two continued on their
way as kdj kept giving yjh unsolicited advice on how to treat a lover right.
——
“How strange…”
“Is there something wrong my lady?”
Yes. There was something very wrong. The graduation ball was near and kdj had not heard of any rumors about the dissolution of her engagement
yet.
She was sure she had done everything as planned. Help lsh and the ml’s strengthen their relationship like in the novel and allow for their relationship to blossom. Albeit, she wasn’t as extreme as the original villainess, she did her best to push the characters in
the right direction.
If the timeline was correct then rumors would’ve spread that kdj was going to be dumped at graduation. When she asked around, everyone gave her strange looks.
‘Maybe he’s keeping it a secret until the ball. That’s it.’
“Young miss, are you thinking about
the crown prince?”
Sys gave her a determined look, “If you’re worried that he will annul your engagement, don’t worry! When I asked his palace staff, they firmly agreed that the possibility is 0%!”
“T-thank you for checking, but you can never be too sure.”
“That’s true, but…”
Sys leaned down and lowered her voice to a whisper, “I know for certain. He came to the Madam himself and kneeled to reconsider cancelling your engagement.”
“It’s because he needs our family”
Sys sighed. Her lady was in denial. Even without her memories, she was still the same.
No matter how much has passed, her scars were still deep. The young girl grabbed her lady’s hand and smiled, “My lady, don’t worry! If he tries to hurt you, we’ll all teach him a lesson!”
Kdj broke out in laughter, “Thank you Yoosung-ah”
Kdj wasn’t going to be hurt.
Seeing her favorite characters reach the end was enough for her. (If so why couldn’t she shake a feeling of gloom off her chest?)
———
Dressed in a baby blue satin gown adorned by pearls, kdj entered that hall. Beside her was yjh. The graduation ball had begun.
Kdj prepared
herself for the scene where yjh will announce to the room who his true love is and cast kdj away.
‘After that, I will move to the cottage in the South.‘ kdj was excited at the thought of her soon to be home. Yjh looked at her with a slight smile.
‘Pretty.’
Everyone’s attention
was drawn to the emperor as he gave a speech to the students. Beside him was the archduke SP. He was identical to yjh except for the scars and the strands of grey peeking from the dark curls. Kdj imagined that yjh would age just as well.
Then lsh and yjh went to the podium.
It was time. Kdj felt her heart race. Was it anticipation, fear? She didn’t know but she clasped her hands together and prayed that it would over as quickly as possible.
“It seemed like yesterday that we entered the academy as novices in magic.”
The speech continued.
The 10 min speech felt long for kdj as she stood there in wait. Finally yjh went up and spoke.
“—— Let us use our knowledge for the sake of our empire and the goddess.”
Everyone applauded. Kdj continued to wait for yjh to continue.
‘Anytime now.’
“I would also like to make an announcement. Although today is an important day for us students,” Yjh turned to his father. The emperor nodded and motioned yjh to continue.
“I have decided to inform you all that I will be giving up my title as the crown prince.”
Chatter filled
the room. Yjh waved his hand and the people quieted.
“Archduke Yoo, my uncle will be next in line for the throne as he is more experienced and fit for rule.”
Yjh stepped off the podium and headed towards kdj. The girl stared at him in utter shock.
“W-what just happened? Why
did you renounce your title?! Aren’t you going to—“
“Dokja. Let’s talk outside.”
He held her hand and took her to the secluded garden. He sat her down on the chair under the tree.
“Tell me. Why did you do that?”
“Your mother said you were moving to the South.”
“How did you find out?”
“It wasn’t hard since your mother doesn’t approve of me. She told me in hopes that I broke off our engagement. She gave me a condition.”
He kneeled and took her hand, pressing a kiss on it.
“I give up my title or there will be no marriage. You
never wanted to be the crown princess right?”
Kdj nodded. She wanted to live in peace, but she was never going to be empress anyway since it was to be lsh’s title. But why did this happen?
“What about Seolhwa?”
“What about her?”
“Aren’t you in love with her? So why are you
doing this?”
“There is only one in my eyes, it’s you. I need just you and only you, Dokja-yah. So let’s get married.”
The sudden confession shook kdj to her core. She couldn’t accept it (he would never be happy with her). Seeing her hesitance, yjh gripped her hand gently.
“If marriage is too much right now, then let’s live together. I don’t mind waiting. I’ve waited this far already.”
With much reluctance, she decided to give it a try. Cohabitating with yjh.
——
The southern breeze was warm and the smell of the sea drifted through the balcony.
Months had since the graduation ceremony had passed and kdj was living comfortably in her cottage.
Yjh set down a plate of fruit and sat beside her. He wrapped his arms around the lithe waist and placed her on his lap.
“It’s sweet!”
“The neighbors grew them.”
Yjh continued to feed kdj as she was too absorbed in reading a new novel. Like a cat, kdj slowly warmed up to yjh to the point where she was willing to share a bed now.
It was pure bliss for the two of them. Yjh no longer had to bear the burden of being emperor while
kdj lived stress free (no longer a corporate slave or a student). The two lived a slow life in the costal town.
“Did you see Heewon’s baby?”
“I did.”
“Cute isn’t it.” Kdj rubbed the corner of the page. She didn’t look at yjh, but he saw the tips of her ears turn red.
“What are you asking all of a sudden?” Yjh held her closer and drew small circles on her waist.
“No reason…”
Yjh let out a chuckle and pressed a kiss on her nape. Maybe one day, if kdj allowed it, he too wanted to start a family. For now, he was content with just this.
Bonus:
Two years later, kdj and yjh got married and shortly after, news that kdj was with child spread through the capital. The emperor himself went and visited the newlywed couple shortly after in congratulations of the joyous news.
- end
Thank you for tuning in folks!
I want a villainess au but not the type where she vows to live a peaceful life then suddenly becomes queen but one where kdj can actually retire 😭 poor Ahjussi…
