Russia’s war against Ukraine has reinvigorated the Middle Corridor.

Time taken to transport cargo from China to Europe via three corridors is:

Northern: 10,000 Km (15-20 days)

Middle: 7,000 Km (10-15days)

Southern: 20,000Km (45-60days)

It passes through 8 countries and

It passes through 8 countries (China, Kazakhstan, kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Europe).

Middle Corridor has least hot spots as compared with Northern (Ukraine War) and Southern (choke points of strait of Malaka, & Indo Pacific)

Turkey 🇹🇷 due to its geo-strategic location sits at the center of this corridor. It’s location affects Russia, CAR, Caucasus, Middle East, & Europe). Turkey has lot to gain from all this. Already numerous Chinese companies are working on multiple infrastructure projects.

The Middle Corridor is a land transportation route that runs from China to Europe through Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Turkey.

Some of the main projects associated with the Middle Corridor include:

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway: This railway connects Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, and provides a key link in the Middle Corridor. The railway was completed in 2017 and is designed to improve transport connections between Asia and Europe.

The Middle Corridor involves the construction of new highways and railways in countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey. These infrastructure projects are intended to improve transportation links and promote economic development in the region.

The Middle Corridor also involves the development of ports in countries such as Azerbaijan and Georgia, which are important hubs for trade between Asia and Europe. For example, the Port of Baku in Azerbaijan is being expanded to handle larger cargo volumes.

The development of energy projects: The Middle Corridor also includes the development of energy projects, such as the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), which carries natural gas from Azerbaijan to Turkey and Europe.
