First Unhinged Textdump Theory Thread of the new JoJo part:
So... humor me for a second. At this point, we've had two full parts and I think, personally speaking, we've developed a strong pattern of having original continuity villains getting re-imagined as heroes/allies. (1/)
It was done fairly simply with Diego, literally just taking Dio, having him be slightly nicer, and pitting him against the same opponent as our protagonist this time. But with JoJolion, it became way more abstract and important to the core of the part itself.
In JoJolion, "Kira Yoshikage" is re-imagined as "Kira Yoshikage," (shocker) who also has the attitude and lineage of Jotaro, and eventually becomes Josuke Higashikata.
Gappy's story parallels Kira losing his original identity and having to adapt to a life with a new family.
It gets so down to the very specific parallels, that in the final fight both characters use a phone call to their allies in order to guide an explosive bubble.
I won't get into how Diavolo fits into this again. I've already talked about them potentially being re-imagined as a Higashikata a number of times. (Specifically looking in the direction of Mitsuba's second child from the Doctor Wu fight), so we'll skip him for now.
I'm going to instead focus on how Pucci fits into this theming. Seeing as how JoJolands is likely to also function as a re-imagining of Stone Ocean alongside Golden Wind.
It's possible Pucci's equivalent simply hasn't been shown yet. We're still only one chapter in after all. But given they end up with a star birthmark in Stone Ocean, I think there's a strong case to be made for them not only being a Joestar, but being Dragona specifically.
Dragona already possesses the Joestar surname, making them a prime candidate to function as the reimagining of an OG Joestar like Jolyne. And much like how Gappy is mixture of OG Kira and Jotaro/Josuke, I could see Pucci's reimagining being a mixture of both Jolyne and Pucci.
Looking in the broad strokes of their characters, Dragona has a darker skin tone than their brother, much like how Pucci has a darker skin tone than Weather. In addition, given Dragona's presentation as significantly more feminine, Dragona may be based on a māhū.
Māhū are a third gender individual of pre-colonial Native Hawaiian culture typically assigned male at birth. But what's moreso signficant about them in this case, is that the māhūs' role was that of a priest.
Now... what would this mean for Dragona's character? Well, it's too early to say definitively, of course. But I'd imagine that it would reflect primarily on their relationship with Jodio.
Dragona's relationship with Jodio could evolve to reflect Pucci's relatioship with his own brother in a way. Alternatively, it may take more from Jodio's namesake and reflect Pucci's relationship with Dio.
Anyways, yeah. We're still early on, so it's very possible I'm barking up the wrong tree, (as per usual), but I thought I'd lay out the current evidence regardless.
