CCTV FOLLIES 2.22 Making the world safe for dictatorship
-Full court press against US perfidy continues.
-Putin and holy Russia get glowing friend-of-China accolades.
-Greeks against US imperialism!
-If Sachs says so
-When Xi presides, politburo scribes take note and take notes

More unabashedly pro-Russian coverage of the special military operation here shown carefully targeting enemy ammunition dumps.

Russia can shoot and bomb day after day with complete media impunity in China, but CCTV won't forgive the US for it's aid to Ukraine.
The US shouldn't meddle. It's so unfair!

China gives its best air time to true diplomats and true friends, like this charmer representing Russia at the UN. (He talks like a bully but he's really nice)

At the UN, the image of Jeffrey Sachs was on every screen on every desk, and CCTV was lovin' it.

Sachs: "Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared that the destruction of the pipeline is “also a tremendous opportunity..."

"Sweden has kept the results of its investigation secret from the rest of the world...the UN Security Council should require these countries to immediately turn over the results of their investigations to the UN Security Council."

Ambassador Zhang Jun couldn't have said it better.

CCTV reporter does a standup in the UN lobby
As per practice, CCTV draws from its Rolodex of "international personages" to repeat key talking points.

Step aside, shy and retiring Biden.
This is what leadership looks like!
Rapt attention for the duration of a rambling three-hour speech, what's not to love about it?

Russia reluctantly gives up its nuclear arms treaty with the US because the US, well, just because.

That's also why Russia had to invade Ukraine. It was under the duress of a kind of hegemonic mind control.

The US made them do it!

But Russia is setting things straight, showing Ukraine the kind of tough love it needs to get in line.

If I didn't watch Xinwen Lianbo, I wouldn't have been aware that a multitude of Greek communists brought Athens to its knees in order to vehemently protest against US imperialism.

Luckily, CCTV was there to cover it.

"America is an imperialist country."
"We want to do battle with US imperialism"
"We will not permit the US to drag us into war."
"We don't want to be drawn into the Russia-Ukraine conflict."

Never has China's largely monolingual domestic news audience been hit with so much tender loving news (in screaming English) about a small town in the US state of Ohio.

America looks to be irredeemably messed up and CCTV (cue violin music) feels really bad about that.

As for China's domestic news, which I saved for last because it's ten minutes of uninterrupted tedium, cut with horribly boring head shots, and totally reeks of a personality cult politics...but anyway, here's..............Xi

Scribble, you scribes!
The paramount leader is kibitzing off the cuff again.

The only hint of charm in today's domestic news came with a report on recent gains in animal husbandry.

Zai jian!
