The report reveals concerning setbacks for women’s health, as maternal death rates either increased or stagnated in nearly all regions of the world.
While there was progress in reducing maternal deaths between 2000 & 2015, gains largely stalled, or even reversed, after this point

There were an estimated 287,000 maternal deaths in 2020. Most were in low- and middle-income countries.
