This thread will focus on 3 large military vehicle production plants in Russia:

The first plant we will discuss is Omsktransmash which is part of the state-owned Uralvagonzavod Group. This sanctioned engineering company is based in Omsk.

By observing satellite images from September and November 2022, we can notice an increase in activity around the factory as well as the arrival of a large number of armored vehicles. About 150 armored vehicles are visible in November.

From the length measured on the satellite images I estimate these tanks to be T-62. Note: T-62 Hull length -> 6.63m and those on the images were measured at 6.59m (A correct estimation being difficult on the basis of satellite images).

Moreover, a video geolocated at the Omsk train station shows T-62s on a train. This video was reportedly filmed in January 2023. The above mentioned elements show us another reality than the one depicted by Russia.

On the social networks of the company you will find several photos of the production line of what seems to be T-80BVM, T-90M and T-72B3.

Medvedev visited the plant on February 09, 2023. During this visit, the most modern examples of T-72, Tos-1 and T-80 were presented to him. Unfortunately the factory's backyard was not included in the visit (lol).

The Russians probably continue to manufacture high-end battle tanks in relatively limited numbers, however, this information suggests that most of the vehicles leaving the factory are modernized T-62s.

In addition, on October 12, 2022, a deputy of Russia's Duma said that the 103rd armored vehicle repair plant had received an order for 800 armored vehicles, presumably T-62s.

Nizhny Tagil: at the Uralvagonzavod tank factory (57.936106, 60.102400) between 06.2022 and 29.01.2023 the arrival of approximately 100 tanks can be seen in the vehicle park in the vicinity of the plant.

Kurgan: I have geolocated a video posted on 03.02.2023 ( video not dated) showing a BMP-3 leaving the Kurganmashzavod plant (55.463358, 65.329409). This factory is known to produce mainly BMPs.

At these coordinates on satellite images of October 2022 (55.459685, 65.312504) we can see what seems to be BMP-3/BMP-2 on a loading dock next to cranes as well as on a train.

In conclusion -> yes, Russia might still be producing some modern MBTs but the main models we see coming in and out of these factories are T-62s and some BMPs.

I intend to keep monitoring these factories and will make one or more threads about other factories that are currently producing armor, including the 103rd Armor Repair Plant. If you liked this thread, please consider RTing and liking
