🌿💫 For more than 11 years, the peaceful resistance of La Puya has defended their lives and territory from the gold mining operation owned by Nevada-based Kappes, Cassiday & Associates (KCA).
The struggle now continues against the Guatemalan government, for obstructing the communities' participation in the consultation process in respect of their right to self-determination as an Indigenous people.
Last Monday, communities affected by the KCA project delivered to Guatemalan Ministry of Energy and Mines a petition signed by more than 80 organizations & 2,500 individuals urging the government to guarantee full, free and safe participation in the court-ordered consultation.
