Since we're still waiting for 1989 (Taylor's Version), here are some fun facts about 1989 by Taylor Swift; a thread.

Taylor named 1989 after her birth year, which corroborates the influence of 1980s synth-pop. She described the title as a symbolic rebirth of her image and artistry, severing ties with the country stylings of her previous albums.

After only 19 weeks, 1989 already outsold her last two albums, Red and Speak Now. According to Nielsen Music, 1989 scored a whopping 4.5 million copies sales, while Red sold 4.1 million after 124 weeks, and Speak Now had to spend 228 weeks before making it into 4.4 million sales.

If there's one thing Taylor Swift wanted to change from 1989, it's the title of the album's third single, Style. "We should have just called it "I'm Not Even Sorry," she told TIME.

Taylor said in an interview, "I didn't want people to know the emotional DNA of this album. I didn't want them to see a smiling picture on the cover and think this was a happy album, or see a sad-looking facial expression and think, oh, this is another breakup record."

In 'Out of the Woods,' the main snare is a combo of white noise [Jack Antonoff] got from blowing out the EMI board, clapping his hands, and, no joke, dropping his gear bag. He mic-d that up on the floor.

The unique music of "Clean" comes courtesy of a couple of Imogen Heap's unique instruments: a mbira (a thumb piano) and "then these things called boomwhackers, which are for the percussion," Swift explained.

The vibe she wanted for Shake It Off:"I want it to start off, & the second the song starts I want it to be the song that if it's played at a wedding & there's one girl who hasn't danced all night, all her friends will come over & be like, 'Come on. you have to dance on this one!"

1989 was the FIRST album EVER to be sent into space.

Taylor was inspired to write "Blank Space" based off of the character whom she is portrayed as by the media after appreciating the complexity of this character.

Writers Swift, Max Martin and Shellback wanted "Blank Space" to be about the lyric and the vocal, not the production, so some of the background noises are just Swift and Shellback yelling.

"Out of the Woods" is about a relationship full of the anxiety that comes from being viewed and judged by everyone and knowing that the relationship would end but not knowing when.

Swift's vocal for "Clean" was recorded in just two takes.

"I had this metaphor in my head about being in this house, there’s been a drought but you feel like there’s a storm coming. Instead of trying to block out the storm you punch a hole in the roof and just let all the rain come in, and when you wake up in the morning, it’s washed-

away." Taylor on writing the album closer, 'Clean'.

'This Love' is one of the first songs that was written for 1989. Taylor said it was one of the first times she began experimenting with different vocal styles. She also stated that 'This Love' first started off as a poem.

Taylor played a rough demo of 'Bad Blood' to Ed Sheeran right after she wrote it, and he said "This has to be the first single!"

The cover for 1989 was taken by accident—it was captured and Taylor said "Why not make it the album cover?"

Taylor started writing seriously for 1989 in April of 2013.

Taylor said she's proud of herself for breaking the track 5 tradition by not really having any songs on 1989 sad enough to fit it.

The songs Taylor listened to the most after she wrote them for 1989 were 'This Love' and 'Out of The Woods'.

Taylor put a keyboard in her room because she would always wake up in the middle of the night to write songs. After she wrote a song, she couldn't fall back asleep, so she'd stay up & rework her old songs on the keyboard. This is when she got the idea for the 1989 era remix of -

"Love Story".🎶

Part of the 1989 photoshoot was done in the apartment of Iranian director, writer, and decorator Tannaz Hazemi in NYC. The partment was formerly a dance studio.

As you all may have known already, Taylor's actual heartbeat is played in the beginning of 'Wildest Dreams'.

1989 was filed under the code name "Sailor Twips" on Taylor's iPod.

1989 was the only album in 2014 that went platinum.

Taylor's original seagull shirt is vintage, but was reproduced for 1989 merchandise.

Taylor trademarked the phrases "Cause we never go out of style", "This sick beat", "Party like it's 1989", and "Could show you incredible things."
