They refused National Guard backup at Capitol 'as it would have been bad optics', but the real reason was they were plotting a violent insurrection (framing Trumpers) to interrupt 14 hours of Senate Objections to certification of the 2020 Election.

BLM Protestors in 2020 often blamed Feds (i.e., anarchists posing as RWWS) for infiltrating their Riots to incite violence. Hells Angel 'Umbrella Man' at the Autozone BLM Riot, who increased violence acuity at Riot, is case in point.
