We @NaturalEngland need better pay & terms to recruit & retain the skilled people necessary for a wildlife rich future. No one works in ecology or the public sector for the money but we do need to live & feel our work is valued. #ProspectStrike
We also need dependable colleagues beside us delivering, not leaving after 6 months for a consultancy job. Pay a decent wage (not excessive - it’s still ecology, right) & many will stay coz that’s where their heart is. Let brilliant people literally save the world #ProspectStrike
We need management to listen& make required changes when staff tell them increasingly strongly, year on year, that working @naturalengland is unsustainable, discriminatory, ineffective. Will angry mobs outside offices be loud enough? It didn’t need to come to this #ProspectStrike
Instead for 13 years we have endured effective pay cuts & insecurity. During that time, each of us @naturalengland has devoted our career to defending, supporting & enhancing our country's public services. This week we say "No more." #ProspectStrike
Naturalists, walkers, scientists, farmers, we’ll even take @BBCSpringwatch viewers - anyone who values nature in England, on Wednesday join your local @NaturalEngland #ProspectStrike picket. Make a noise about nature conservation & valuing skills & experience in delivering it.
