This was my podcast studio 4 months ago
I was pretty proud with how scrappy it was
Turn outs, being scrappy doesn't lead to the best results sometimes
So, I just redid my desk setup
Want to see it?
The energy was supposed to be calming, clean and zen.
My fav parts of my setup:
1. Mini replica of the 161 Montreal public transport bus I took from ages 12-17
Reason I love it:
Daily reminder of my roots and how far I've come
2. Shure MV7
I went through 5 mics before landing on this one. If Joe Rogan uses a Shure, it's good enough for me lol
Kinda crazy that for $249 it puts you into the big leagues.
If you're semi-serious about podcasting or even sounding good on Zoom, really recommend
3. iPad next to your computer with an Apple Magic Pencil 2
I'm not a fan of large 2nd screen monitors, I prefer this:
My laptop in front of me and an iPad I use to write notes/draw sketches on
This combo makes me my most creative self
4. Minimalist wood desk
I'm not trying to make a fashion statement, I just want a solid wood desk that makes me feel calm
I got Branch "office desk" and love it so much. Mega calming
I ended up getting a chair and cabinet to complete the look branchfurniture.com
5. Something that makes me smile
"Youppi" the mascot for the old expos and Canadiens
My point: put something on your desk that makes you smile
After all, you spend ~1/3 of your life there
So, I'm curious to see your desks, setups and battlestations
Mine is a work-in-progress but it's been a blast optimizing it
And I feel like my podcast, newsletter and work has gotten significantly better thanks to a better setup
