Innocent's iconic roles and memorable sequences have all found an independent existence outside of the films they were a part of ..Many of his lines are now part of our daily lingo ... (A thread)
1. Mannar Mathai's mundu scene in Ramji Rao Speaking...("Nee mundu.." )
2. Kittunni's lottery scene from Kilukkam, followed by his hilarious outburst against Thilakan and the apologetic return later
3. Lineman Kurup's expressions in the thenga udakkal scene from Mithunam...and the ISI mark/slap scene with CI Paul.
4. The 'Tonykutta' song in his own voice from No.20 Madras Mail
5. Ponjikkara's music with body muscles from 'Kalyana Raman' to the tune of "Bharathamennal Paarin Naduvil"
6. Swamiyettan's secret marriage being discovered by his all-male Anjooran family in Godfather..
And the "Neeyokke enthina Padikkane" question to Jagadish
7. "Ithinappuram chaadi kadannavan aanu ee K.K.jooosephh.." from Vietnam Colony
8. Yashwant Sahai, the North Indian politician's demand for "Naariyal ka paani" on his Kerala visit...in 'Sandesham'
9. Karate master Daniel's inopportune comments in the hospital, which earns him a slap....from "Thalayana manthram"
10. The myriad expressions of fear laced with humour in Unnithan's face..and his "silent" scenes with KPAC Lalitha...from Manichithrathazhu
11. And one of his best and most important roles..in real life...the Malayalam speech in Parliament as a Left MP in which he spoke at length about the need to make healthcare affordable to all.
12. When I made this thread last night, I left out the famous 'Choru scene' of Ponjikkara from Kalyanaramam. That scene really has a separate fan base and I have lost count of the number of times I have heard this line being used in real-life situations.
13. "Child care specialist" sisupalan from Thoovalsparsam ("Kutti urangukayanu, dhyaanikkukayalla..."..and all the tools that he brings to take care of the baby)
14. Pranchiyettan's sidekick who writes speeches for him and makes grand plans for him, including the padmashri. His reactions when Pranchi messes up the "Poorangalude..." speech are priceless
