Welcome too.... the Captain's scuffed guide to MCDF files. A Thread🧵to hopefully explain how to create, and utilize MCDF files for better collaboration! Your first step is going to be to open mare with /mare and then open the Settings window with the cog button 1/7

From there you want to click on the Export and Storage tab. From there you will get a few details about MCDF files, a confirmation about exporting the data, and an option about opening the import dialogue when you enter Gpose. You'll need to click the first to continue 2/7

Once checked the export dialogue will display, enter the description of your file and hit "Export Character as MCDF". The save dialog will pop up and you can save it wherever you desire. From there you can send it to anybody you're synced with, but how do you or they, use it? 3/7

Gpose as you would normally, and have a character ready to import on, I'm using Brio for this. Type "/mare gpose" in the chat window to get the MCDF Dialogue. Upon selecting load a file selection dialogue will appear letting you select the file. You'll want to confirm and ok. 4/7

You will then see a new button, apply loaded MCDF file. (ignore change in pose, server DCd mid me taking this). After hitting apply, there will be a redraw, based on the file's details. As you can see Kuro is here. Fully m*dded and posable. I do not have his coat installed 5/7

now. This will only load the visuals and m*ds present when the file was made. Redrawing to add something new will revert the model. Ktisis appearance adjustment won't cause this however but will not load any new M*dded files. You also must be synced for it to work correctly 6/7

Hopefully this helps you all understand MCDF files better and makes it much easier for people to collaborate when schedules or timezones are making getting together difficult. 7/7

Added note: As I see I might not have been clear after re-reading this. You must have the actor you want to change selected in Gpose. Either using the normal tab/click function or selecting them with Ktisis. Otherwise it will override your default character.
