#RWBY

I want to talk a little about this scene in particular because for me, this is still one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire show even after all this time.

For the longest time when I rewatched Volume 5 I had to skip past it because it genuinely hurt too->

much to watch. Let me explain why.

The scene in itself, along with the context, is obviously sad.

This is someone who just got abandoned by her own mother again, just so she can grab a relic that would put a target on her back from the most powerful being on Remnant.

But->

what truly made this scene for me be in particular so incredibly heartbreaking is...the framing and direction of this specific shot.

It's genius, really, to direct it the way they did, but I also need them to pay my therapy bills because it was unfair.

I want you guys to->

think back in Volume 5 about the other times characters had an emotional breakdown.

Think on when Ruby and Weiss respectively reunited with Yang.

They were overcome by emotion, but they were grounded in Yang's hug.

It was a breakdown which felt safe and warm.

->

Now of course, Yang did have her own breakdown in an episode as well, and Weiss was there for her, but that was the first and only time where Yang had any form of comfort when she broke down.

Back in Volume 3 they all just gave her time for herself.

And this time, in the->

Vault, her breakdown was much worse.

And it was all while she was alone.

The way the shot is directed emphasizes that loneliness so SO much.

You can see the way the shot lingers and pans out, revealing more and more nothingness.

Just Yang, in the middle of a vault desert,->

having one of her biggest breakdowns.

All alone.

It's the way that direction of the shot emphasize all o it so much which makes the scene hurt so so much.

And what makes it even worse is the way it's followed up by Yang coming out of the vault like nothing happened.->

The way she's standing tall, the way she's the one to come and give everyone hope as if she didn't just shatter completely moments ago

The way this makes her be the personification of Strength even further because she fell apart and put herself back together all alone.She knew->

there were people who needed her so, she brushed off all that pain just so she can get to them.

But I already talked about that here so I won't get details again

So yeah, I hate that shot, it broke my heart more than a lot of stuff in the->

entire show ever did, including nowadays. 11/10 direction, but also how dare you😭

As much shit as I give Volume 5, this final episode is perfect.
