Riley Gaines has just arrived to campus and Turning Point USA is setting up for their event as protesters are getting ready at Cesar Chavez quad.

There’s confusion on where people are entering the building. Certain entrances of HSS building are closed.

A group of about 100 students are about the enter the HSS building protesting against TPUSA’s event

At 6:43 p.m. protesters are checking in to the event.

Protesters are being told that the event is as capacity of 75 people so they are not allowing people in. Protesters are on standby at 6:56 p.m.

Turning point USA is looking to open another room for remaining participants at 6:58 p.m.

Inside: Signs are not allowed within the room, so protesters are using provided TPUSA fliers to create makeshift signs.

Riley Gaines has started her speech to a room full of 75 students at the HSS building at 7:05 p.m.

Protesters start chanting “Trans women are women” outside of the hallway in the HSS building at 7:14 p.m.

Inside: Riley Gaines recounts her story of competing against Lia Thomas in ‘22 NCAA championship to a mixed audience.

SF State students wait outside to enter as they are only allowing people in as others leave at 7:24 p.m.

Inside: Chants can be heard in the room where Riley Gaines is speaking and protestors within the room are stamping their feet along to the protestors outside.

Outside: students have entered the HSS building via the elevator and are being denied access into the hallway where the event is being held

Inside: Protestors inside the event are starting to raise their voices in response to Riley Gaines. Doors to the event are closed.

Inside: Q&A will now start at 7:50 p.m.

Outside: For the past 30 minutes chants of “trans women are women”and “trans rights are under attack. what do? stand up and fight back” are going back and forth between the two ends of the hallway

Riley’s response: “I’m here to ensure that everyone has their fair space to feel comfortable.”

The event has concluded 8:26 p.m attendees are being let out and students are picking up their posters from the hallway

Riley Gaines has been escorted out of the event into a side hallway in the HSS Building. Students were following through “trans women are women” 8:31 p.m

Two large black cars were seen exiting the garage of the Administration building at 9:02 p.m it is not confirmed if Gaines is inside the vehicle

Seven police cars and six SFPD policemen are outside of HHS building on standby at 9:10 p.m.

“I want to offer that this conversation that we’re having as a community, as a campus can continue,” said Chris Trudell in the hopes to get the crowed to leave.

Protesters are starting to disperse at 10:40 p.m.

Police have moved into another hallway of HSS at 11:13 p.m

At 11:21 p.m. SFPD announce that those who stay to protest are now unlawfully congregating and will be arrested if they refuse to disperse.
