1) @SHABAZGIL was abducted & put through severe physical and mental torture in custody that left him traumatized. Pakistan saw its own George Floyd moment as the asthmatic Dr Gill was seen gasping for air & begging for his oxygen mask. 2/n

2) Dr Gill was abducted from his car, all windows broken & his driver beaten up. The driver's wife was abducted from her home too, for reasons unknown to this date. Her 10 month old daughter screaming for her mother in court broke hearts. 3/n

3) Journalists were taken off air & harassed. Jameel Farooqui was abducted & tortured in custody, to the extent that he burst into tears trying to explain it. Sami Ibrahim & Ayaz Amir were attacked. ARY & BOL News's team members were abducted. 4/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
4) The most prominent case, however, is that of celebrated investigative journalist Arshad Sharif, who was forced into exile and murdered in Kenya. His post mortem report showed signs of the worst torture; metal nails dug into his wrists, his own nails pulled out etc. 5/n
5) Police raided the homes of PTI leadership and workers without warrants at midnight, breaking open doors & scaling walls to forcefully enter and harassing the families. In one such case, they slapped the daughter of a PTI leader, leaving her traumatized and on tears. 5/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
6) It is pertinent to note that police even abducted underage kids (as young as 10 years old, even!) for reasons such as being related to PTI worker or carrying a PTI flag in their car. 6/n

7) State terrorism is inflicted on peaceful protestors often. One prominent example is of 25 May, when police used expired tear gas shells, stones, baton charge etc in an attempt to disperse protestors. As a result, it became difficult to breathe & children screamed in pain. 8/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
8) On the 8th of March, 2023, police suddenly started severe shelling on the supporters of Imran Khan camping outside his home for his safety. They baton charged windows of cars with women inside & straight fired shells at people, injuring many. 9/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
9) Police abducted an autistic child - Ali Bilal - from the spot that day, and he was murdered in custody. His post mortem report also showed signs of immense torture. 10/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
10) On the 14th of March, 2023, police was back at Imran Khan's residence, inflicting terrorism on his workers. Shells were fired straight into his house, and live bullets were fired straight at the people, including a lone woman. 11/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
11) 18 March, Imran Khan was lured out of his city with excuse of court proceedings. His workers were baton charged & tear gassed just for accompanying him. Meanwhile his home was broken into by police, workers beaten, belongings stolen/destroyed & religious wife harassed. 12/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
12) Assassination attempt on Imran Khan, in which he was injured with bullets to the legs and his companions - including Senator Faisal Javed & 13 year old supporter Areeb - were injured as well. One man died in the attack. 13/n twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
13) There are innumerable more examples, from media clampdown to harassment of social media activists to bogus cases to more political victimization, but that would make this thread never ending. You get the gist, however - and know that this isn't even half of it. /Fin.
