Mamelodi Sundowns wouldn't exist today if it wasnt for these 2 individuals and Standard Bank involuntarily contributing to the success of Mamelodi Sundowns .
Here is a Story of Zola and Snowy the real Bonnie and Clyde
Mr cool was born in Soweto , was the founding father of present-day Mamelodi Sundowns and he is the reason why Mamelodi is what it is today .He was famously known as Mr Cool because of his lavish lifestyle .
Zola made his mark in Mzansi between 1983 and 1987, he became an overnight multi-millionaire and was living large .
No shade or disrespect but Sundowns was a small soccer team from Marabastad , Motsiri Itsweng and Bonnie Sebotshane were the owners , they only experienced a lift in the 80s when they relocated to Mamelodi.
Sundowns was promoted to play top flight football in 1983, but they were really struggling until Zola aka Mr Cool became the director
When he took over Sundowns, Zola started buying the best players from Chiefs and Pirates as well as other clubs in SA .For the first time someone started offering signed contracts to players.
Players were not getting much during those days they were being paid between R200 or R300 per month but trust me it was a lot in the 80s
Unlike Chelsea you can't just buy players without getting a good coach so Mr Cool appointed Screamer Tshabalala as the head coach. He gave him R50 000 to leave Blackpool
With Screamer as the coach Zola brought in striker Mike Mangena in early 1986. Later, another talented player Mike Ntombela joined his club from Wits.
Sundowns train was now on tracks , before he came in Sundowns were nobodies but Zola moved them to the first division in the National Soccer League , he earned the the respect of everyone .
Sundowns doesn't overpay players it's in their DNA started by Zola , he spoilt his players rotten, taking them on holidays with their partners and rewarding some with brand-new BMWs and fast cars .
In 1986 , he once took the entire Sundowns squad to the FA Cup Final in London on an all-expenses-paid trip with their wives and girlfriends...and side chicks ( kidding , not side chicks but you get the idea)
Ok sweet ...we are happy for Sundowns we are happy for the players and Mzansi football but where was he getting the money to sponsor all this ? This is where Standard Bank and Snowy come in
Zola Mahobe met the love of his life Tebello “Snowy” Moshoeshoe and together they executed one of the biggest crimes in the history of Standard bank.
Zola was working for Standard Bank at the time and Snowy was a nurse , Zola convinced Snowy to stop saving lives and join him at the bank . Standard's information systems ran on IBM technology that Zola had studied , he was a computer geek , so jackpot .
For a period of five years, Snowy who was a cashier at Standard Bank passed credit transfer forms without substantiating cheques she would then deposit them into Zola’s accounts. More chingy chingy for them
The scenario left her with no choice but to create false credit balances, which were offset by a debit through interbank transactions. R10 million was squandered , and Zola earned the nickname "Mauser"
Every Instagram influencer in jail today for fraud was caught because of flexing and doing too much , Zola did the same , no Instagram back then but he was not happy with his 500 SL Mercedes-Benz convertible he flew to Germany to try to import the larger 500 SEL saloon.
At this point Standard Bank looked at Zola and Snowy's payslips then compared them to the life they were living and find out "It's Not Make Sure" , rest in peace to Goodenough Sithole
He was a wanted man , R50 000 was put on his head , Zola was caught after a nine-month getaway and was sentenced to 29 years in prison.
Snowy Moshoeshoe died of cancer aged 51 in 2010 and Zola Mahobe died 3 years later in 2013 .....
anyway I'm not saying Sundowns was started with Fraud Money I was just telling you guys a story
I will also take corrections I don't mind 🙏
