Small thread on what I think Arsenal have missed this season, ultimately costing us in winning the league.

Nothing over the top - just small observations and opinions.

1/4

Inexperience

It has been very interesting watching the team grow and conquer so many bad records this season, but the new exposure to protecting a lead over 38 games was always going to be difficult.

Most had never been in this position before, and naivety hit them hard.

Managerial Inexperience

Arteta is a phenomenal manager and his best years are ahead of him. He has achieved one of the greatest transformation exercises a football club has ever seen.

But the stubbornness to diversify tactics, move on from medicore players has -

- impacted how successful we could be. From not giving bench players minutes in early stage cup games and substitutions when games were buried.

Would have been good to see him adapt swiftly and apply a different thinking in games we weren’t playing well. We move though.

3/4

Depth

City’s 1st 11 win the league and City’s 2nd 11 challenge for top 4.

Arsenal’s first 11 challenge for/can win the league, but the bench players finish bottom half of the table.

For the 3rd year in a row we lose critical players at critical times. Objectives ruined.

4/5

Level Quality

We have frequently seen players subbed off or missing games and the philosophy of our game falters because the quality of our team isn’t sustained.

RCB, LCB, LB, LCM, RW, GK.

You cannot win a league when 5 of your starter replacements are not good enough.

Technical Ability

City have 5 midfielders who can do this. Pick up the ball and carry it. Every single player has the pace/power/technique to pass and move with or without the ball. It’s all succinct.

Arsenal play beautiful football, some of the best we’ve seen this season. But at times it can become so predictable.

We need to drastically improve the team’s technical ability, and the ability to influence the game in a variety of ways.

It’s been such a fun journey. Setting aside the recent disappointments, I’ve realised that a squad this young can only go on to achieve incredible things.

Ready to see out the season and do it all again this autumn. Love this club so much ❤️

RT’s and all that jazz appreciated. Let me know what you think
