I want #Edinburgh to be Scotland's next Feminist City 🏙️ But what does that mean? 🧵1/6

Feminist urban planning is the design that directly works to include women and those of marginalised genders.

It is the idea that feminism should be at the heart of city planning and infrastructure design. 🗓️ 2/6

In practice these designs could include:

Pavements kept well enough for everyone to walk or roll on 🚶‍♀️🧑‍🦽

Streets safe enough for everyone to travel through (at any time of day or night) 🌃

Amenities like toilets accessible for everyone to use 🚾 3/6

My motion to #Edinburgh Full Council next week calls for a feminist town planning approach and gendered lens to be considered when the Council review their guidance or introduce any new policies ✅ 4/6

You can read the motion in full below or online here: See item 8.12 📝 5/6 democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/ieListDocument…

Finally I want to say a thank you to the brilliant @cllrhollybruce for her work in Glasgow and for inspiring me (in many areas) but especially with this work on Feminist urban spaces 💚✨

Fingers crossed this all goes through - the work starts now! 6/6
